I have not had a moment to look through janelle's spotlight :( I have to sign off again right now but I will read through it all tmw. I just friended you (Janelle) and Sandy on fbook. It's funny, I have been deleting a lot of people from my friends list but it feels more natural to add you ladies :)

Hi Linnie! Just accepted your request.

I just went to my facebook profile and cut and pasted the URL from the browser window.

OMG that link didn't look right! LMAO- I am Lindsay Jones Murray on fbook and right now my profile pic is me in a red bridesmaid dress with my SIL the bride (from 6 years ago).

Janelle- you are making me want to travel to Oregon! It sounds gorgeous.

I was quite mainstream with my first and that's totally ok. I am still only half crunchy and that might change with this baby or the next but I will always follow what my "mommy heart" says and then I will have no regrets. My babies have never tasted formula (not even a drop) and now I am passionate about that but I wasn't when I was pregnant with my first. We didn't circ our son (and this new baby boy won't be circ'd either) but honestly, it was mostly because we didn't have the extra money at the time and maybe 15% because I wasn't comfortable with it. That being said, I have researched it a lot more now and I am thrilled that we didn't.

It's your first baby, you won't know how you feel about something until you have tried many MANY things and figured out what actually works for you and I believe that's the way its supposed to work. I have many friends that were forced into a certain way of parenting and when it didn't work for them, they had a total breakdown and felt like failures. That is NOT what we need to teach first time mom's.

I practice AP and we are a non CIO family but again, before my first, I wouldn't have indentified myself as that way nor did I really care about those things!

Anyways- tell us more (if you want) about meeting DH. So you met on the game but then what happened.... this is all so new to me :)

Linnie - I accepted your request!  Yay!  Here is the story, it's kidna long and complicated so feel free not to read it if you don't want guys LOL

I met DH on a game, totally NOT looking for people to meet hahaha, but we just had so much fun playing the game together... we started always getting on the game every day and then it turned into us "dating" on the game, which to me was so silly, but the game lets you get married and stuff so it WAS kinda part of the game, but still the whole thing was a bit childish to me LOL but I didn't wanna insult the other game players.

During that time, he had a girlfriend who had JUST had their baby, which was a bit weird because I truly kinda liked him, well what I knew of him.  She had their daughter but she was crazy as hell.  She took their daughter and moved far away within months of her birth, then ended up coming back and visiting here and there so he could see her sometimes.

During the time after they had broken up, DH and I got SO close and began talking on the phone every day.  At one point he said he wanted to meet me because we obviously had stronger feelings than just with this game.  He came to Oregon from Oklahoma for a week and at that time we officially decided we were dating (the second day he was there).  That was August 9, 2007.  After he went back we really decided we wanted him to move here.  We made plans for him to move here in October.

But then September rolled around... his daughter was only 9 months old and passed away.  She had a genetic condition that she got from him (one of the reasons I need a hospital birth).  It is not a serious condition when treated with medicine, but I am not sure she always got her medicine from her mom.........  anyways after that he kinda spiraled into a deep depression, as you can imagine.  He started spending time with his ex again, mostly because she was the only one who understood what he was going through.  I tried to be understanding, but I wasn't even there, and he didn't call as much.

Eventually, he started coming out of it and realized he didn't want to be spending time with her, he still truly wanted to be with me and he DID ending up moving here for good that December.  Those few months were AWFUL, though, I was soooo sad.  We were officially broken up and I tried a few dates, but I always just wanted him.

Before he moved here, we had already talked about getting married.  He wasn't gonna move here if we weren't gonna get engaged.  He bought a ring in Oklahoma and I just waited to see how he would propose.  One night a month or two after he was here, he put the ring on my finger while I was sleeping and I woke up with it :)  It was cute.  We planned our wedding for our 1 year anniversary, August 9, 2008 and we have been married since then!

Because of his daughter dying, we waited a long time (in my opinion) to have a baby.  I was baby crazy since I was 18, so it was hard on me, but I totally understood WHY we needed to wait.  He still misses his daughter, she would be a cute toddler now, so it's sad to think about.  Little Deacon has a sister in heaven, and we won't ever forget her.  I wish I got to meet her, I was preparing for a step-daughter and then she died... it's a sad situation but it's life, right?

So that is our story Linnie!!  The hardest part of the whole thing is that he is from Oklahoma, not here.  Their culture, it turns out, is VERY different than ours here in Oregon.  We have clashed the most on culture issues, it took him a long time to start acting more "Oregonian".  One of the most major things is that if someone "Talks shit" to you in Oklahoma, you just get in a fight LOL.  He tried to do that here and we are like uhhhh how old are you?  LOL, it's just weird!  When he's angry he says everyone in Oregon is a pussy who smokes pot, and I don't think I will ever get him to stop saying that!  When I am angry I say everyone in Oklahoma only knows one way to solve problems and that's getting in fights with each others, even his mom has been in fights!!  That is just weird to me!!

I'm excited for us to have a baby to hopefully help mend his heart so he can find out that he CAN love a child again, even after losing his daughter.  Deacon WON'T replace Alexis, he will be in addition to her, and DH's heart has room for both of them. stillheart.gif

What a cute story!  Minus the death of his daughter, of course.  :(  I love the way he proposed!  So sweet!  I'm not one for big productions (I don't like being the center of attention) so that sounds perfect to me!  love.gif

SO and I met in a sort of similar way.  It was an online dating site though.  I still don't really know why I decided to join that particular site, and especially why I decided to pay for a membership.  I NEVER thought I would be so "lame" to do that. lol  We hit it off right away and spoke every day for about 3 months before we met in person.  After that it was all over.  lol  We started traveling back and forth to visit each other.  We did that for about a year and then we decided to move to ATL together.  He grew up here, but was living elsewhere at the time, and I always wanted to live here.  Anyway, we've been together for just over 3 years now and fall in love more each day.  :D

Sorry for hijacking!  I love love!  :)

LOL Janelleody - thats honestly one of the best get together stories I've heard in a long time. Oklahoma is an entirely different culture, you are so right.

I hope Deacon brings you all closer together!

Bubble - dating sites are awesome I think!  I sometimes wish I was single so I could have fun and date some people but I know that in reality it's much more fun being married and settled down.  I don't think they are lame at all, it's the new way of dating!  People come together in so many ways, it's always lovely to hear the stories :)

That's a great get-together story!  That's really sad about Alexis, though.  Well-wishes for Deacon's journey into the world.

What do you like about your DH that made you want to marry him?

Do you have a special connection with the name Deacon?

Is there anything about pregnancy (except the upcoming birth) that you *do* like?

I love your story Janelle and I love the way he proposed!!!! Thank you for sharing that. My DH and I "kind of" met online too but it was in 1998 and he actually met a friend of mine in a Christian chatroom as they were both in university staying up late and finishing papers. They talked for a year on ICQ and they decided to meet. I thought that she was crazy and I knew very little about chatrooms or the internet in 1998 so my BF and I at the time went with her to meet him (one city over). Well, long story short; they weren't really interested in eachother romantically but him and I really clicked. I even said to my BF that I would totally date that Jason guy. After BF and I broke up over a year later, I reconnected with Jason on ICQ while at our mutual friends house and gave him my number. This may marks our 12 year anniversary and we have been married for 8 years this year!

Thank you for sharing Janelle and as for Sarah, I am all for online dating. I would totally do that right now if I was single. I have a close friend who has recently found a wonderful guy on a dating site and they are doing so well together. There is a lot of success stories. I hate the bar and really, how else do you meet someone?

I don't really think it's a lame way to meet people, I just never thought I'd pay for one at that point in my life. kwim?  I still don't know why I decided to.  Fate, I guess.  :)

Another great story!  I totally believe in fate, so I love stories like that.  :)

I hated meeting guys in bars too.  Ick.  And I'm an introvert, so it was hard for me to meet people at say, the library or something.  I think online dating is great, especially if you live in different cities.  It forces you to really get to know someone before you take it to the next level.

I would rather meet someone online than in a bar, for sure! Besides, who meets any one  for a Long term relationship in a bar anyways? All I ever saw were 1 night stand/booty calls in my clubbing days.

*chuckle* booty calls being talked about in an online DDC.

too funny.

I am too shy for the bar scene!  Online would be the perfect way to meet people if I were still single.

What do you like about your DH that made you want to marry him? Oh I dunno, he makes me laugh, he has a cute butt, he is tall, dark and handsome lol... he does manly things like put stuff together and reach high up for me, etc. :P

Do you have a special connection with the name Deacon? Nope we just both liked it!  It took us a long time to pick out names, but we have girl nad boy names picked out already, we had them before we were TTC.

Is there anything about pregnancy (except the upcoming birth) that you *do* like? Now that I am not sick all the time, I like my belly.  I always wanted a pregnant belly so I am enjoying that.

That is what some of our single friends say, that they would rather meet people online and some of them have.....If I was ever single... I would not even know where to begin, I think I would be so far gone from the dating world on what to do LOL! I told my DH one time if anything ever happened to him I would go solo  ...we have been together since I was 16! (25 yrs and going!)

Janelle, it was fun getting to know you better!  I'm so behind in reading the spotlights but do enjoy it.  I've always wanted to visit Oregon.  My cousins lived in Medford for a few years and we never made it out there to see them.  Then a few years ago I lived near Seattle for 2 years and thought we'd make a long weekend trip down to the Oregon coast and Portland but never did.  Someday I will visit there!  :-)
