safe cosleeping with a comforter

Hi, for those of you who cosleep and generally follow most safety recommendations for cosleeping like no comforters, light blanket only on the bottom half of the bed, etc., I was wondering, at what age did you relax the rules. Can I bring back my wool comforter now that my child is 12 months old?

It's freezing in our house, so we need warm covers at night.  I use a down comforter but have it so that it's at my daughter's tummy level or so (she's 5 months).  I am hyper aware of her, as I am a light sleeper, so I feel ok not following this "rule."  It's not a heavy comforter, though.

Even if I was extra careful to follow all the guidelines, I would definitely feel more relaxed about it at 12 months of age.

How does your LO do with lighter blankets?  Has he/she shown that they'll move a blanket off their face?  If so then I wouldn't stress about it.  I was using a comforter with my DS by a year  because it was just too cold otherwise.

I too was also using a comforter by 1yr. But my kids were walking by then and would grab a blanket to cuddle up with herself.

I agree with pp, if your baby can push a blanket away from her face you should be ok.  You don't want a lot of blankets or very heavy blankets.
