blueHi. My name is Sarah. I have a 4 year old pyrenesse that I just had to do a biopsy on. Her leg. I am still waiting for the results, but wanted to know if anyone has gone thru or know anyone that has gone thru this? If so, did you or they amputate the leg? Just need advise!! So devastated! Thank you!

it depends on the type of cancer, the stage, and the health of the dog.

Was it a biopsy from a lump? Or were x-rays done showing bone involvement? or Was it a lymph node?

Depending on the type if it is localized then often removing a cancerous lump is all that is needed.  Again depending on what was found a larger area may need to be removed.  If there is bone involvement (often osteosarcoma)then amputation may treat...depending on where in the leg.

oh and depending on what it is chemo is available for pets as well.

Good luck.
