Anyone familiar with a vaginal granuloma following tear and stitches?

I had a second degree tear and stitches and sometime soon after a 10 week postpartum doctor's visit I developed a granuloma (this extra tissue just inside the vaginal opening).  A few weeks later after I noticed it they had to excise and cauterize it.  It was a fairly good sized piece of tissue- maybe 3/4 inch long and wide.  At the follow-up appointment the doctor didn't get everything and she cauterized it again (cauterized both times with silver nitrate).  Now, there is a little nub and I don't know if I should go back in again (I don't have insurance and doctor was sympathetic and gave me a deal, including a free follow-up).  I have some discomfort and soreness with sex, but don't really know if it's from this granuloma or just from being dry.  My baby is now 21 weeks old.  Anyway, it was explained to me that the layers of skin didn't heal in alignment and that is how I got this extra growth.  I ased the doctor if this was common and she said she never had any patients with this.  Also, I can't seem to find anyone, including my doula and a midwife friend, who has heard about this.  I haven't found anything on the internet either.  So, I probably will just wait it out and see if it is contributing to making sex uncomfortable or not, and because it is such a little piece left, will wait on returning to the doctor. But, because it seems to be unusual, i am wondering if there is anyone who had this or knows about this.  Thanks in advance for your feedback!

I have to go next thursday to have a granuloma removed.  Was the procedure painful?  Was there lingering pain?  Did you have discharge caused by this?

they gave me two shots to numb, those were pinchy, but not bad, and i didn't feel anything for the rest of it.  there really wasn't any lingering pain, i think i just felt a bit sore for a couple of hours.  and discharge? i'm not sure.  the doc used silver nitrate to cauterize, but i remember the doctor saying she was going to use stitches and then changed her mind to the silver nitrate.  so i had some grey goo the next day or two, but there was goo. not a lot.  good luck to you!

I had a small one after #2.  They said I could do something about it or wait it out.  I decided to wait, and, though it took several months (maybe he was closer to a year?), didn't notice it really after that.  I do notice it for quite a while after each birth, though. (2 since him).

I had a significant one and had to have it surgically removed.  They didn't think that freezing or burning it off would be good enough, so the went in (I was under general anesthesia) and removed the tissue, re-opened the tear, and restitched it shut.  I haven't had any issues since then!

just an update: maybe when my baby was about 5 - 5 1/2 months old i noticed it seems to be fine, so i won't go back to the doctor.
