Oh Alanatmm, It sounds like you have it even worse than me :(. I'm so very sorry. I only threw up four times today! Which makes it a great day, for me. Good luck, I really hope this suffering winds down for both of us.

Zofran is being used in very young infants now. It's very unlikely that the amount that would pass through your breastmilk would be anywhere near as high as the amount prescribed to them. I have a copy of Medication and Mother's Milk and can look it up if you want exact numbers. Obvi it's a very personal decision, but for me, the options were Zofran or wean- and I took the Zofran.

Some info from Dr. Hale's website: http://neonatal.ttuhsc.edu/discus/messages/56500/56503.html?1250627934.

My doctor prescribed Zofran but i never took it because it may pass through breast milk. I can't take Unisom because it has benedryl in it, and Vit B6 alone didn't work in the end for me at all. Too bad, i was really hoping! I don't know what i will do if the nausea carries on through the second trimester as it did with my DD. The nausea wasn't nearly this bad last time though.

On a happy and encouraging note, DD is night weaning SO WELL! We tried one night and i gave up immediately thinking she was not ready and i wanted to respect that. But then the next night i was waaaay too sick (nausea plus a high fever) to nurse her, and each night since has just gotten easier and easier. She is sleeping SO GREAT!!! Which means that i also get more opportunity to sleep even though the nausea keeps me awake at night. She is also learning to fall back asleep on her own, or with her dad, which is huge for us!!! Ever since she was born, her sleep has been dependent upon me and me only and it hasn't been easy but i'd say it's been worth it. She has no sleep issues. She welcomes bedtime and naps and feels very secure.

Anyway, truly, thanks again to all who have been sharing. Keep it up if anyone ever has anything to add, because i am still ALL EARS. I need a break from this nausea!!!

Thanks for that. Luckily i didn't have to make a choice. I was very sick one week with a high fever on top of the horrible pregnancy nausea and was simply unable to nurse, and my DD (25 months) was cool with it. She's still nursing from time to time, especially when teething, but far less than before and she's sleeping so much better! We are all sleeping so much better!

But besides all of that, i also didn't want to take the Zofran because i was already backed up and i know people who got seriously constipated on that to the point that they needed an enema. For one person i know, that didn't even work and a doctor had to go in there and get it out which as you can imagine was pretty traumatizing.. I know it doesn't happen to everyone, but i knew it was more likely to happen to me, so i opted out for that reason also.

I'm glad your DD adjusted well! I'm back to working on nightweaning again...nursing two off and on all night is making me crazy.

The constipation is REAL. *TMI ALERT* I have actually done the same...had to learn who to give it to myself. I just couldn't lose any more weight (lost 10% of my body weight) and had to have ivs and stuff. This time I'm just trying to stop it before it gets that far.

I'm sorry if I'm being redundant- I can never remember what I've posted already.

Hi All - I hope for all of us that find some relief- I have been really bad- throwing up at least a few times a day a feeling nauseous all day.  I had to stop the unison because it was turning me into a zombie during the day so my dr. said I can take an 8 mg zophran 3 x a day- I am trying to hang in there- man I am so tired of this.

So I'm 11w1d and I'm just now really starting to have some issues.  I never had any issues with any of my other pregnancies either!  With my last baby I had a few food aversions, but that's all.  I would say this really started a week ago or so, but it's amped up in the last week.  I can't eat anything without getting nauseous.  Nothing sounds good at all.  Even when I do get a craving for something, I'll eat it and then feel sick.  Day or night, but almost worse at night.  Yesterday I wanted watermelon and pineapple (two of my main pregnancy craving this time) cut it all up and ate it, only to feel so sick after I got it down.  Very frustrating. Now, I'm not throwing up, but having never dealt with this before, it's rough.  I feel for those who are throwing up and having an even worse time with it.  I'm just frustrated that I'm almost out of the first trimester and NOW I'm getting this......go figure.....

If it makes you feel any better, I've BTDT. I never feel sick in the beginning- mine really ramps up until 10 weeks or so. Sucks, I know, when you think you're going to bypass it!

Ein328...I am POSITIVE we were in the December 2010 DDC together!  Too funny we're here again together.  I think we had a conversation about honeybees of all things.eyesroll.gif I just sent DH to get me ginger and hard candy.  We'll see what that does.  I haven't put on any weight yet and with my other kids I'd put on about 5 pounds by now.  Luckily I'm not hurting for weight really, so I'm not too worried about it at all.  Now if it keeps up, well then maybe I'll start!  I did get some lunch down but of course it made my stomach feel sour.  Go figure....

We were!!! How cool :-) I am still friends with several of our mamas on FB still, even though I got away from keeping up with everyone once we moved from the DDC thread. And yep- my DH is the honeybee guy :-) Hope you are able to eat something soon....the Zofran is helping me some in terms of not puking, but it's not helping my food aversions.

I have actually had a bit of an appetite the last couple days!  I think these organic lollipops I got at the store have helped.  I start to get queezy, pop on of those, then I seem to be okay!  We'll see if it lasts.  I did know that our old DDC has a FB page, but I don't have FB!!  I know.....I'm one of those in the minority these days it seems.  It's so nice that you guys have a way to keep in touch!
