I want an amber teething necklace, and have been shopping around for one but I'm curious if there is a recommended brand?  Is any old amber necklace fine?  Does it have to be of a certain quality??

I got mine from Inspired by Finn.  They do co-ops too if you know more people in your area that are interested!

We made ours, the local bead store sells them but the lady there said that most people who buy them there make them long enough for the baby to chew on. I said I would not. There's another one put away for the May baby. I really just like necklaces on babies and I figure if amber has a benefit, all the better.

I put an amber necklace on Luca a few weeks ago, when he began chewing on his hands and drooling.  It seemed to help for a few days, but the drooling and chewing are still pretty crazy.  I took it off a few days ago and I've not noticed any difference.  I'm going to wait a few days more and put it back on and see what happens.  I had heard such good things about them, I'm kind of bummed it didn't do more.

Drooling and chewing can also just be a normal baby thing.  He might not even be teething yet.  It seems like most of our babies are drooling and nawing on their fists.

Shay wears a necklace of amber and I don't think he is in pain, just found his hands and drools like maniac. His teeth bumps are way down in his gums.

Yeah, I really have no idea if Luca is teething or not.  The necklace doesn't help with the insane amount of drool before then?  He has a bony gum line, but it does seem there's a bumpy gummy spot on the bottom.  My daughter was 5.5 months old when we became her parents, so I have not experienced this part of babyness.

I think the necklace just helps with pain, not drool.  So I'd wait until he's noticeably fussy and in pain, then see how the amber works for you :-)

Will do!  I hope it works!

There's a very noticeable tooth in Luca's gum, from the front of the gum, instead of coming out of the top.  It's the canine tooth.  He's been chewing even more, like it *hurts* my finger for him to chew on it.  Yes, I put the necklace back on, and there is considerably less drool.  I asked my mom when I got my first tooth, and she said I was 3 months.  Anyone else's kids teeth like this?

I don't know if KJ is teething or just drooly and fist-gnawing, but she is more squirmy at night and a little more fussy during lately so I think I'm gonna get an amber necklace.  I think I'm going to get one of the overpriced ones from a baby store in town because I want to support this particular store.  Or I might make one, who knows.

I'm assuming the answer is no, but can a baby sleep with the necklace on?  Like if it's just the right length?

Rhyko has his necklace on 24/7. Hasn't been an issue at all. It's off right now because he puked and covered it in his 'cheese' so I had to wash it and hang it to dry out. yummy.gif

Both of my older kids got their first teeth around 4mo, so it does seem to be genetic.  It's totally possible that your baby is teething, although the front, bottom 2 teeth usually come in first.

Canines are the last to come in usually.  It is totally possible to get teeth this early, tho.

Shay wears his necklace all the time.  Its usually lodged in his neck rolls.

Ds1 wore his necklace all the time- no issues.  For my kids, canines have always come after all the incisors.

Amber necklaces help with drool, too?! OOoohkay, I need to dig ours out!

They seem to help with my son, at least at first.

So, teething tablets: okay or not? I know the package says don't use for more than 7 days without doctor's orders. But they are really just sugar and a teeny bit of homeopathic stuff, right? I can't remember if I used them much before or not. But we are definitely having fussy teething time here. Both my older girls got their first teeth at 5 months, so it seems right that he'd be going through it.

Didn't Hylands Teething Tablets get recalled a couple years ago?  I'd look into it. We used Camillia with DD. just during "crisis" moments (crisis was the word on the package! lol) but it seemed to work. DD, as with everything, was a catastrophic teether. Like up screaming for hours in the night, or up screaming every 45 minutes, and screaming all day long. I wish I had known about Baltic amber for her.

I did get Oren an amber necklace, but I take it off his neck and put it on his ankle when he sleeps, and that's getting a little old. But I'm a jumpy sort of mama, so that's just me. I might get an anklet for now, and then use the necklace when Oren is sleeping just 1 or 2 naps a day, as oppose to the current 5 or 6.  Right now I don't notice a difference in his mood with it on or off, but who knows if he's really teething or not?

He's got 4 bumps on bottom and 4 bumps on top, and they are all right there. You can see where the bottom centre two are by a raised part in his gum line, but that's been like that ever since they came through and went back down. He's definitely had fussy days, and more wakeful nights, and has given me bruises on my fingers from all the chewing, Lots of drool too. But who knows. DD didn't get teeth until 6 months, and she did all this stuff too, for months and months. So I'm not holding my breath.
