I know I need to try the dairy. :( I'm just avoiding it because I'm eating so little as it is, and cutting out dairy cuts out a lot of my normal go-to choices. I have to come up with alternatives first so I don't starve us both! lol. I tried cutting it out once early on, but I only last a week, and it wasn't a complete elimination, just a big cutback.

I know how you feel. I have food allergies and dairy was a huge part of my diet. It will be worth it a thousand times over if cutting it helps. Check out the sodelicious coconut products...coco milk, icecream, yogurt, etc. try not to sub with soy as most kids with milk issues have soy issues too. Take the plunge, mama. It sucks but you will be so much happier if it helps.

What other restrictions/allergies do you have? Or are you referring to the fact that it's difficult to cook/eat well when you're dealing with a needy baby? Either way, try to plan ahead and give it a good 2-3 weeks. It may be just what she needs :)

No other restrictions, I'm just a picky eater :( I have a problem with the texture of a lot of foods, so things like yogurt, cottage cheese, etc, are out.
My quick go to meals have been things like cheese toast, cheese and crackers, choc covered almonds, cereal, etc. I'm trying to eat fruit and veggies too, but again- the pickiness sets in. We don't own a microwave by choice, but I think we're going to give in and buy one so I can eat during the day... but then again, it's combing through thr microwave meals to find ones without dairy in them.
I had trouble with the dairy sources you don't think about- wanting to add cheese to my pasta, or butter in things, or like making KD- but then you've got to add butter and milk. It's going to be a process I know, I'm just trying to work up the nerve for it!

ive been reading along, but was swamped with the move. we are sucessfully in florence SC which is a far cry from the northeastern sities ive always lived in. its incredibly refreshing. there are mommy and me yoga classes which im excited to check out as there seems to be no Ap community here. but i figure thats a good place to start. also there are enough like minded people that it supports large organic sections in the chain grocery stores, and there are two independent health food stores around. so i m hoping i can find some hippy mommy friends. this forced isolation is going to be awesome, there isnt even a cool independent coffee shop to hang at in this city. (no good coffee boo) Ember is almost 7 weeks, and so heavy! i think hes close to 12 lbs or over, at 4 1/2 weeks he was 10 lbs 11 oz. his birth weight was 7lbs 13 oz. hes rolling over more and more, and his head control is very close to being there. hes so strong when hes kicking and screaming it hurts!

rusty- congrats on the move! My uncle used to live in Florence when he was going to school, but that was before he had kids so I doubt that he would know where to find the like minded folks. Now him and his wife find all the hippy places for me ;) So glad that things seem to be going well.
I hate to admit it, but I'm kinda ready to go back to work. Since it's flu season we can't really go anywhere, all my SAHM friends are constantly sick, getting sick, or getting over being sick...I guess I'm just kind of bored, because what I want to do I can't do without someone to help with the kids...like exercise, etc. I can't even clean because if I take my eyes off my 2 year old she is destroying something (read; painting the walls with poop) or trying the "help" with the baby which means picking him up or shoving a binkie down his throat, ie killing him. *sighs*

Rusty, glad to hear your move is done!
The cutest thing happened last night, Caitlin was holding Stephanie, but looking at me so I said "Where's Caitlin?" and she turned her head and looked at Caitlin. Then I asked "Where's Roland?" and she looked at him, so I asked "Where's Caitlin?" again and she looked back... the kids started laughing and she realized she was doing something tricky. She started looking back and forth really quickly with a big grin on her face, and I said "Caitlin! Roland! Caitlin! Roland!" The big kids were both killing themselves laughing, it was awesome!

I cut out chocolate and it stopped Paxton's crazy 3 hour crying period at night. Actually, I now avoid anything with caffeine....which really sucks.

Ugh, what a sad little night we've just had. My silly boy was squirming and unhappy the whole time. He's working on rescheduling his sleeping times so he's awake (and happy!) more in the mornings and sleeps most of the afternoon and evening, which is actually really nice. He had been sleeping most of the morning, then by evening, he would be sleepy and grumpy and just have a cry-fest until midnight. But I think the rescheduling is messing with his nighttime sleeping, too. Not fun. This will be a coffee day for sure.
Mummoth, that sounds so cute!
Winter wakes up around 8 with a serious need to poop, but first he has to get naked and kick and kick and wildly kick until he's ready for the potty. So while he's kicking, he's talking and giggling and smiling. It's so much fun to play with him! Just this week, he and Papa have falln in love--so sweet. Now baby saves up all his smiles for DH, and they tell stories and giggle at one another.
My mother visited last weekend. It was strange. She's now planning to divorce her third husband and she has a new man, so she was so busy talking to and about him, she hardly noticed W. The one time she held him, she was also texting this guy, and when W started crying (he wanted a new position), her answer was to jam a pacifier in his mouth and smother him in her breast so he couldn't spit it out, then cry until he accepted it. Obviously, I intervened right away. Mama! Be nice to my poor baby!
Oh, and I finally bought some pants that mostly fit. Yay. After I hem and wash, I'll be feeling better.

Azadehhast~ could Winter be having a bit of a growth spurt? Hopefully he settles back into his usual routine, that sounds like a good one! That's awesome that Winter is loving his daddy these days, it's funny how their little smiles can make you feel appreciated. sorry about your mom, that's got to be frustrating!
wendizbaby~ Ouch, no caffeine? That's rough. Hopefully he outgrows that sensitivity quickly!
Roland is home sick today, he's been throwing up all morning. The nice thing about a 10 year old is you can leave them at home for 20 minutes while you run the other kid to school and stop by the gas station for some Gatorade. He doesn't seem to be feeling too bad, he's talking and got up to watch a movie, but he's not holding anything down, so he's not going to have energy for long. I think we're all going to take a nap.
Just popping in to say "hi" and I miss you mamas! I skimmed through the thread, but, I don't have time to respond...maybe I will get online this evening...I just have beeen sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo busy and too exhausted to get online most nights!

LOL Heather!
So I finally got on the computer for real and I added pics to my blog posts, chickened out of posting it on FB and just posted to my LLL group so my one girlfriend would be able to see it who had asked lol. Anyway, if anyone wants to read its here: http://birthboobsandbabes.wordpress.com/ I only have 3 posts so far though and who knows when I will have time to post more...because that means I need time to write!
I have just been going crazy with work and everything, I've been so overwhelmed. Otherwise we are doing great and Naomi has her 2 month check up tomorrow...so I'm excited and just slightly nervous, but, I am hoping it will just be a celebration and maybe we will be given the ok to stop fortify N's milk (which we are no only doing while I am at work since she refuses a bottle when I'm home...such a good girl lol.
Mummoth, hope Roland is feeling better and everyone else stays healthy!
Is anyone else's baby up all night? Naomi has been nursing like every hour..thankfully I can sleep through it...but it can leave a gross puddle of milk!
Oh also, Naomi is starting to laugh a little! It sounds like she is about to bust out in laughter but then she doesn't...can't wait until she actually does bust out! It's so cute. Tonight she was sticking her tongue out at me and I was sticking mine back at her and then she would do the laughy sound and smile and repeat...like 5 minutes, I think she realized it was "funny" to stick her tongue out and was playing a game! Adorable! So much fun!
Hello all! We're a busy bunch these days, eh? I have so many questions for you ladies and no time to sit down and write them out!
Yesterday was my 6 week PP appointment. OB was happy with my healing and I got bloodwork done to check my H&H and thyroid. I'm hoping both are normal and I don't have to take pills anymore. I was emotional afterwards, LOL. It felt like the denouement of my pregnancy. I don't miss being pregnant, but there's something about that time ... the anticipation maybe? the internal focus? ... that I miss. It comes and goes, but was especially strong yesterday. And I wished my OB was a little more touchy-feely and we could hug it out. :) Instead, I made an appointment for him to insert my Mirena.
So Owen is not a fan of cloth diapers to the point where they can ruin a good 2-3 hours. :( He hates getting wet in them. If he wakes up wet, he starts screaming even with his eyes closed and he is furious well past me changing him. I have to rock and bounce and soothe in his little particular way for a long, long time and then he's still fretful and fussy. The other problem is that he pees often in small amounts so often I'm changing diapers every 15-20 minutes, with him grouchy the whole time. So I end up using disposables too and probably no fewer than if I were only using sposies. And I have a ton of laundry. Any suggestions? I imagine as he gets older, cloth will be easier and him not liking the wet will be an asset, but for now I feel like I should just forget it...
We haven't had any laughs or giggles here yet. More and more smiles, but O is a quiet little guy. Quiet, but scarily active! There are times when he's nursing that I so overwhelmed by flailing arms and kicking legs, trying to contain everything and I realize that he's not even crawling yet.

I've got the plague! I spent all night throwing up, all morning in bed and just tried eating for the first time because I was so low on energy. I think I'm a lot better, but I'm going back to bed anyway. DH came home for lunch and brought me some Gatorade, I think that really helped. I kept the big kids home today because Caitlin hasn't been sick yet and I wasn't sure I'd be up for getting her if the school called halfway through the day.

I feel like I have the Wonder Baby of the Universe, I am so in love with this little guy!!
I actually called one of my friends today and told her that I was so sorry we weren't friends when her oldest was a newborn, because Owen was sick Sunday - Wednesday this week, and Wednesday I had a glimpse of what she lived when her daughter was a baby. The inconsolable screaming. Oh. My. Goodness. I wish we'd known each other then, so that I could have helped her!! It was the worst feeling, to have him screaming for so long and not be able to help him feel better. He has fussy periods, but they aren't like Wednesday was. Around 8pm Wednesday evening, he had a MASSIVE poo, and he's been happy (mostly) ever since! And his rash and uncomfortable tummy were gone too. YAY!!
My DH is getting more and more comfortable with Owen - last night he offered to take him for a walk around the house when he was a bit fussy before bed. They walked and talked and sang - and O was asleep when DH brought him back! Way to go DH!! It's so much fun for me, watching them interact :-) My mom loves to read the Snuggle Puppy book to Owen and sing him the song. It's so sweet! My DH's mom makes up excuses to come by the house for a cuddle with the little guy. DH's dad can't take his eyes off him when they visit - it's so clear that he is craving a cuddle too, but he's really reserved and won't ask, so I always offer. And then he'll sit in the rocking chair gazing at him like he's the center of the universe. My dad and stepmom love him too - we're going up to see them this weekend and I know my dad's itching to get his hands on him. And my sister. Oh, my sister. She's been driving 2+ hours every weekend since he was born to come spend some time with him. I think the only way she could love him more is if he were actually her own child. Our step-brothers have kids, and we love them dearly, but this is different somehow. Owen is the first everything - first child, first grandchild, first blood-related nephew - to everyone except my stepmom. The love this child is being showered with... wow. Just... wow.
LOL, I am using everything under the sun. My stash is very piecemeal. But it's mostly kissaluvs contours and prefolds. Either way, a liner is a really good idea, thanks! I might even have some...
I'm going to a cloth diaper exchange tomorrow if it doesn't snow too much :-)
My hubby left me a Valentine's card by my computer!!! So sweet - he never does that stuff! PErfect timing because I have really been wanting to romance each other more.
Mummoth- hope you are feeling better by now..yuck yuck...we had the tummy ickies come through our hosue too.
Naomi had a great 2 month, she's 9lbs 7.5oz (so 7.5oz in 13 days - mostly directly from mama!) We get to stop fortifying her daycare bottles soon. Her pediatrician was SUPER excited that we found a doctor who diagnoses and lasers psoterior tongue ties within driving distance and asked me for his name and practice etc. so he could look into it more. Oh yeah and N is 23 1/4" -- she is SOOOOOOOO long LOL!!! She's actually long enough for some 3-6mo clothes even thouht she doesn't reall fill them out yet.

I'm feeling a lot better now LilMomma, thanks! That is FANTASTIC news about Naomi! it sounds like she's making up for lost time. That's sweet about your DH and the card.
DH just took Stephanie on the biggest trip away from me ever... he's going to a computer store that's a 45 minute drive away. He'll be gone 2 hours, maybe more. I scrambled to pump a bottle for her so I feel okay about it... he was going to take her without one! We left her with mom longer than that when we went to a show, but I prepared for that... he just kind of sprung this on me! I guess I should try and take a nap... no! A bath! And then a nap.
