I am meeting with the homebirth midwife tomorrow.  My DH is getting cold feet.  I hope she's able to ease his worries.  He is just having trouble looking free in the face and saying NO (we have medicaid and can have a free birth with hospital midwives, HB midwife will cost us $3600) but I refuse to go back to the hospital.. I just can't.  I am so relieved to be meeting with her.

Please wish us good luck!  We are also driving to Indiana tomorrow to pick up a Craigslist ikea bed (the Kura bed) for my DDs.  We really need some space in their room and this is a great deal.. $125 for the brand new bed plus the tent.  Excited. :)

*ALSO* I forgot to add.. I got a call from my boss today (I work part time tourist stuff, seasonal, haven't worked in about a month but will start work again in March) and didn't answer because I didn't recognize the area code.  He left a message and said he wanted to ask me something about my scheduling.  Great.  A friend of mine just got laid off- this boss called him and told him so.  Granted, he was a terrible worker, but I'm really hoping I don't get laid off as well!  With this being a seasonal gig, I could easily stop in Sept when I have the baby, and start back the next summer.  I'd get an awesome (unpaid) maternity leave and still have a job.  Everyone, please cross all crossables that that wasn't a lay-off call. :(

Crossing my fingers for you, WindyCityMom.

I'm alternately exhaused and insomniac, ravenously hungry and grossly nauseous. It's all good, right? I'm just glad to be having symptoms.

My good friend had her baby on Saturday, and I finally got to talk to her on the phone tonight (she's out of state). She sounded great and I gave her the recipe for All-purpose nipple ointment smile.gif She had tons of ultrasounds for suspected IUGR and is on blood thinners, but had a great vaginal delivery with a doula and a family practice doc -- just one shot of morphine -- lots of position-changing and laboring in water.

SMM- ahhh that's no fun :(  my work is notorious for four hour shifts.. my travel time is two hours at most.  not fun!

MissE- yay for seeing your flippy bouncy.gif

crystal_buffaloe, I hear you on this!  I am ready to fall onto my keyboard but was awake for half the night!  My 3 year old is finally only waking once or twice per night and now I can't sleep.  Oh, the irony.

WindyCityMom - GOOD LUCK!  Fingers crossed for a great meeting with your midwife and no bad news from your boss.

MissE - Congrats to you and flippy!  I like that nickname.

So last night and today I am nauseous.  I guess I'm happy about that for now!  It's mild but definitely there.  Although DH wasn't feeling so hot today so I am really hoping it's not some kind of bug.  My poor DS has been sick so frequently this fall/winter.  I really don't need another family illness!

Oh, and I stopped for a chai latte today.  YUM.  Best thing I have tasted in a while :)

MissE - yay!!!  How awesome!

I am notorious for not sleeping well in pregnancy, even when I'm exhausted in tri 1, and last night was no exception.  Couldn't sleep well, then DH wakes me up at 1 to tell me DD threw up (he was with her).  So then I was up with her from 1 to 5, and then was able to go back to sleep from 5 to 8.  I'm so nauseous now, but can't really tell if it's just pregnancy related or I'm next.  :-/ Hoping just the pregnancy, obviously.

Going to do nothing but relax with the kiddos today.  I still have to coach 2 classes tonight and then the weekend -yay!

I'm thinking that I'm lacking nutritionally.  I have trouble eating much (at all).. and having trouble getting up the energy to prepare proper, delicious foods.. so when I *do* eat, it's not very good stuff for the most part .. ugh.  The reason I'm thinking things really aren't so great is because of the health of my nails.  Usually, while on prenatals, people (myself included) notice the excellent rate of growth, their strength, etc. My nails are getting flaky and extremely weak. I need to figure out a way to eat more nutrient-dense foods or something. Ugh.  Because really, not only am I GROWING A HUMAN PERSON, but I'm also aiding in sustaining life on the outside by nursing dd4 (who hasn't slowed down in the least). One of my go-to ways of making sure I get lots of fruits/veggies was making smoothies.. but my stupid NEW FOR CHRISTMAS blender keeps falling apart :(  I filed our taxes online last night and our return will be pretty amazing. Most will pay down debt and I'm thinking of splurging on a VitaMix.

8 weeks today and I've been feeling really good since yesterday.  Yesterday I attributed it to the ginger ale I started drinking, but I only had a little this morning and I'm still okay.  I'm partially glad to be feeling better and partially nervous. uhoh3.gif

Finally got my progesterone tested this morning, at 9 weeks. no results yet. I have been spotting since 4.5 weeks, and it doesn't seem to go away. I saw and heard the heart beat at 7 weeks on the ultrasound, but there also was a bleed of a "small size". I saw my amazing midwife today, who ordered the progesterone test. she tried to get the heartbeat on a home doppler, saying it is most likely too early (at exactly 9 weeks), and sure enough, nothing. she very quickly arranged for another ultrasound for me in one hour! (2 PM ET), just to calm my nerves. She did, however, "feel out" my stomach and said that uterus was "right there and very well-sized!".

Please wish me luck. I need this roller coaster to take a break for just a short while...:)

symptoms are nice and yucky- still sore boobs, food aversions, nausea on and off, and very weird dreams.

Thanks ladies.

mymaya.

The roller coaster is the worst, mymaya. I'm sorry. I hope you get good news at your ultrasound and that it gives you peace enough to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

The Vitamix is SO worth it. We bought one that was refurbished straight from Vitamix and saved some $$.

I hear ya with the food. I have been surviving off cereal and sandwiches. :( I usually eat a ton of veggies and they have zero appeal for me right now. I swear by a good Omega 3 supplement for nail health but they are hard to choke down in pregnancy because of the fishy taste. bleeeeeh.

just an update- the ultrasound showed a healthy baby, with a strong heart beat of 176! he/she was moving around a lot, and you could already see signs of little arms and legs! unbelievable! and the tech said (even though she wasn't supposed to) that all looked good, and no signs of bleeds anymore, so I guess my spotting is just "one of those", unexplained things. I still haven't heard back about the progesterone test. Is it still important at this stage? I am 9w1d.

Thanks ladies!

Spotting is lightened and I am still here....

In other news, I am feeling... bigger.  Not bloated, and not pregnant looking, but bigger.  Tighter pants and all that.  Anyone else?

So sorry Carmen hug2.gif

And hugs to everyone who's experiencing the first tri roller coaster.

I'm sorry I haven't been around much. I've been feeling absolutely horrid with constant nausea, light headedness and exhaustion and my laptop seems to be one of many, many nausea triggers. I tried taking B6 today though, and it's made a huge difference. I'm certainly not 100% but I feel almost human. Hopefully I'll be able to participate a little more now!

I'm totally going to get one. Taxes are filed, they were accepted by the IRS... hopefully the refund will be here sooner rather than later and I am TOTALLY getting one!  A refurbished one too!

My chiropractor recommends taking fish oil during pregnancy -- especially subsequent pregnancies (and, this is pregnancy #6).  I know not all supplements are created equal, so I need to figure out which is best/better/etc.
