Charting while nursing at night

Thread Starter

Hi again ladies-

I have been doing OPK and have not liked the inconsistency, so I am starting to chart (this morning was Day1).

DD2 is nursing at night still, and sometimes all night.  For those of you who chart while night nursing, is there any consistency to the chart?

DD2 nursed quite a bit in the early hours, maybe every 1.5 hours and was up at 6, so I took my temp then.  I know it can change my chart a bit, but i should still be able to see some shifts, right?

When I was charting (DD was 13-23 months) I saw distinct fluctuations even though she was nursing every 1.5-2 hours minimum during the night.  I just tried to take the temp at the same time every day.  This doesn't work for some people, though. I would just try it and it should be fairly obvious if it will work for you or not.

Good luck!

I have charted postpartum, nursing night and day and always seen a biphasic pattern.  Yes, the temps tend to be more erratic, but the pattern is still there.  I find that focusing on a consistent temping time is the most important factor.  It will be good to see if your CF is lining up nicely with O as bfing can affect your CF and it will also be good to see if you have a fertile length LP as bfing suppresses progesterone and can cause short LP's.
