Looking For ANYONE In South Bend, Indiana

We moved here 18 months ago from the Pacific Northwest and I still have not found any like minded mamas in the area. I really need to find some crunchy moms!! Anybody out there?

Eh... Bloomington is going to be as close as you'll get but that seems far for where you're at.

My husband is from Terre haute, I'm from Bellingham Wa.  We met in the Military.  He wanted to go back home after we got out of the Military and I couldn't do it.  I know there are some great places in the Midwest... but it's just not something I can handle.  You're not far from Chicago there has to be something near by.

I just discovered this forum and website. I'm a somewhat crunchy/natural mama in Plymouth, and am in the South Bend / Mishawaka area midweek mornings for daughter's school.

i moved to Granger,IN in October. I, too, have been having a hard time finding "my tribe" here. There is a holistic moms group that gets together for playdates and evening "moms only" events. I've been a few times and they are nice group of ladies, mostly with younger children.

I see that you homeschool. There is a group called homeschool hub based out of NIles, MI- I haven't been to any of their events or classes but it looks like it is a good local resource. Have you looked into that?

I would love to get together and hang out with any local crunchies- looks like we have kids of similar ages (mine are 11,4 and 2) send me a pm!

Another South Bend-area crunchy mama over here! (I am in Granger.)

We don't seem to have any local Babywearing or API chapters, but we do have Holistic Moms and La Leche League. The morning meeting has a pretty big turnout. My family's schedule rarely seems to line up with LLL and HMN meetings, so I am still working on my tribe, too. :-) 

For the natural foods-oriented there is Purple Porch Coop (founded by one of the local LLL leaders, actually) and multiple dairy cow shares, etc. I know that some of the HMN moms also work on a community vegetable garden in Mishawaka.

There is a great local ped who cloth diapered and extended nursed, if you will be looking for a doctor, too...

Moving to Elkhart in a week.  Looking for the same.  We are a CD, BF, BW, AP, friendly family with another on the way.  Having grown up in the area years ago, I am quite nervous about the lack of natural minded people, businesses, and opportunities.  Hopefully things have changed since I have been living away LOL.

Hey mamas, we moved to SB in September. AP, pretty crunchy, from Eugene Oregon. I got a job as an administrator/faculty person at Notre Dame. Hubby still not working yet and a 3.5 year old kiddo. Would love to meet like minded parents. Moved out here for the job and to be close to my bestie but our work schedules are making it hard to hang out (new job is M-F 8-5). Kiddo is in montessori during the week but our weekends are free and I know daddy could use a playgroup to take our Bean in the afternoons before picking me up. Transition from PNW and from flex job/graduate school to full time is really tough. Loney, homesick, and looking for like-minded mamas!

Which Montessori? Mine is at TMA -- she's 5 so in the same age range. We do half-day so would be available for an occasional lunch+play date.
