Natural wood bed frames (Pacific Rim or Room Doctor?)

Hello all,

I need to buy a non-toxic natural wood platform bed frame in twin size and also in king size if pricing/budget allows:).

I know that Organic Grace and other such respected sites sell Pacific Rim furniture as well as Dapwood furniture with non toxic finishes. How do they hold up though? Has anyone bought a king sized beds from any of these manufacturers? Is the king size bed too much assembly for average sized people?

The price and shipping of these manufacturers are upwards of 600$. There's also a site called Room Doctor which seems to sell similar beds in unfinished or Linseed oil finish styles for a much affordable price range. The site doesn't look too professional though. Anybody had any experience with these guys? Are they selling Pacific Rim/Dapwood at a lower price? Did anyone buy a bed from Room Doctor and how was your experience?

There's also platformbeds.com..... options galore! What to do?

TIA!

we have the cheapest pac rim bed frame with slats. i love it. we have had it for over a year and its super sturdy and really nice. is it worth the extra dough? i dont know, we also have other frames from main stream places and they have held up just fine over many years, but for sure the pac rim is better quality,

Hello,

Have owned one of the arts and crafts frames from Pacific Rim for over 10 years - it is rock solid, amazing flawless wood.  I would opt for the lower footboard if you are using the slat frame with just a mattress as the posts are just the right height to cause bruises if you bump against them in the dark. Overall finish has held remarkably well - bed does not rock or creak in any way.  Might consider extra support slats for the width of the California King if your mattress is extra soft or heavy.

Hope that helps,

Leigh.
