Weight Watchers Support Thread?

Hey, mamas, I'm starting WW tomorrow and I am looking for some support. Especially about good foods and recipes that are healthy (no nutrasweet or overly processed foods!).

Anyone here doing it? I'm a bit nervous! I have 26 points a day.

hi

I will join you!!! I joined WW a couple months ago and stopped when I got toally discouraged. But I will do it together with you and anyone else in an effort to regain some momentum.

Let's check in tonight with today's progress reports if you want

Yes! Yes! I just started WW at work last week and just found this forum. Hooray!

I'm pretty proud of how I handled Easter, especially since my cousin works at a fancy french pastry shop and brought homemade ice cream . Despite her declaration that it was 14% butterfat I had a golf ball size scoop (I'm guessing it was at least 4 points) accompanied with a cup of strawberries (only 1 point) . I steered clear of the four, yes four, cakes that they had and the candy that seemed to be everywhere. I don't think I even dipped into my flexpoints that day since I was trying so very hard to be good.

I am with you on trying to find good recipes that aren't full of nutrasweet or are overly processed. I admit I bought some things this past week that I have never had in my house before. My favorite thing I made last week was roasted eggplant with white beans. Low points, very yummy, and great leftovers.

My meetings are on Thursday. For the record I'm starting out at 5'3" and 155.6 lbs. My dd is still nursing so I get a whopping 32 points. My goal is 135 lbs.

If you haven't been to Dotti's it's an awesome resource with point counts for just about anything (My favorite is her Trader Joe's list!). I know I'll need all the support I can get so I'm right here with you mamas!

YAY!

So, I stepped on the scale last night (this was the FIRST TIME I've ever bought a scale) and I weigh 219. I'm 5'7".

This morning I had a late start to breakfast (just eating it) and I'm eating Malt-o-Meal (my favorite) with a cup of black tea and soy creamer (no points for the soy creamer!) and a big glass of water. I'll eat an apple in a bit.

For lunch I'm having Morningstar Farms veggie breakfast patties (three of them) with three hard boiled eggs. More water, some grapes.

I'll make some salmon tonight for dinner. Hummus and carrots for snack.

It seems good. I need to remember to eat in the morning.

Well, I am at 28 points for the day and it's only 5 p.m. I am breastfeeding, but I heard that once your baby starts solids, you get the normal points range, which would be 22 for me, which is ummmmmmmm IMPOSSIBLE. My baby doesn't REALLY eat solids, just maskes some food against her cheek a couple times a day. SO i figure somewhere in the middle range would be good.

I bought these Starbucks Cappucino Pops today....2 pts each and really quick and yummy.

If anyone ever needs a points value on anything, let me know

SO glad you started this thread pamamidwife!!!
Oh dear. Amanda I didn't know we should use the "normal" points range if our dc are eating solids. I would think that would put caloric intake below the 1500-1800 daily range that is recommended for bf'ing moms. I'm already dealing with some minor supply issues and don't want to risk reducing it any more . Well, I guess I'll have to see how I did for my first week tomorrow at the weigh-in. I've actually come a couple points short on my "good" days and I still have more than half my flexpoints left for the week. Splitting the difference between the "normal" and "breastfeeding" points sounds like a sensible approach, great idea! Those starbucks pops sounds yummy!

pamamidwife, your day sounds sounds delish and admirable! Thanks for starting this thread!

rainsmom, I'm with you on the the exercise thing. It's been raining so much lately and we've just gone through a bout of colds/ear infections/etc. Looking forward to a beautiful, active weekend!

edited to fix "breadfeeding" to "breastfeeding". Is that classic Freudian or what?

Snoodess: can you paste the link to the Trader Joes List on Dotties site? I cant find it

thanks!

Im looking for good soup recipes that I can make that are low in points. Something I can make on Sunday and eat for lunch the rest of the week. My Leader at WW uses the Taco Soup but without the meat. That sounds really good to me. I find the recipes that are spicey seem to be more interesting and Im more likely to eat them. I also bought some lemon pepper and use that on everything instead of sauce.

Anyone else trying to do a healthier vegetarian version of these WW recipes?
Let me know what you use in place of meat........ or recipes with "diet" type foods that usually have aspartame in them......

Cool!

How did everyone do yesterday? I was at 28 pts at 5 p.m. and then by 7:30 I had some sugar free choc. pudding made with fat free milk. A little splurge. I think that put me at 31 pts. Not great, not bad.

Rainsmom...you asked about meat...Do you like mushrooms? If so, then you arei nluck b/c you can substitute them for meat in any recipe!!! They are so good. I happen to love mushrooms. They are 0 pts.

Exercise is not a problem for me...I power walk about 3 miles a day (except yesterday...it rained, but sometimes I even go out in the rain) so my challenge is going to be in sticking to my points.

So thankful to have support here. My dh is no help at all
post #10 of 274
Hey Amanda.....I love love love mushrooms.....just made a mushroom barley soup that was so meaty tasting.....but in a good way!

Ive had a hard week bc dd has been sick since Sunday, and we cant go anywhere SHes been miserable. So ive been going to the gym at night, which i hate bc im tired, and its so crowded. I told dh that I would start getting up at 6am to get to my spin class, but dds been keeping us up all night and none of us are sleeping well! Thats my excuse!

Still doing well on my points. I only get 20pts a day....but I do pretty well. I didnt buy my bread this week (orowheat lite) bc I knew that exercising was goign to be an issue. Try not snacking when youre home all day!!

I got everything to make some soup for the week.....that site has some great recipes.... Anyone have any of the WW cookbooks? Im curious as to how they are, esp the veggie ones..
Woo Hoo!

I lost 6 lbs. this week!

Rainsmom: Here's the Trader Joe's List from Dotti's site. Additionally, here's a great discussion of TJ's finds. Also I have a WW cookbook with some soup recipes you might like. I can PM you some of the titles when I get home if you like.

We can do this!
That would be sooo cool of you to pm me some recipes!!! I can tell you Im looking for vegetarian ones.......beans, little or no grains (too many points) Im a SAHM, so I dont mind how time consuming they are....I make most of my stuff from scratch so not a factor.

Thanks....Im off to look at the TRADER JOE links!

does anyone feel lightheaded on this plan? I'm feeling a bit queasy and shakey at times throughout the day. I reckon that I'm not eating enough, but I've definitely stayed within my target points....gone right up to my target every day so far.
I did in the first few days....but it passed. I find I use a few more points if I work out hard.....
