Stil holding steady. We have yet another birthday party. This one is nice though -- the birthday boy asked for a donation to the humane society in lieu of presents, so we picked up a bag of cat food to take. All these birthdays are cutting into my savings. We will come up a bit short this month, partly due to putting in so much last month, partly due to a larger co-op food order and of course 3 birthday party invites.
I started our taxes and I have a rough idea of what we will owe...should be in shape to send in that money next month. Then we will be in a good place to finish paying cc debt and then start saving for Christmas and then the roof. I think I am budgeted for the next 3 years.
This is just our new normal way of life I suppose.

2/25 groceries, Great Clips
Well, I have not succeeded in keeping my grocery bill down, as I had hoped to. It's still high. However, DH has been working at home most of the month, so he has not been spending money on gas or on eating out. And the only items I have bought besides groceries in all of 2012 are a sheet of stickers for DD to pass out on Valentine's Day, a few chocolate bars for my kids' Valentine's gifts, and a second-hand uniform for my son's martial arts class. I'm no longer going to worry about trying to keep the grocery bill to a certain number. I'm just going to focus on avoiding eating out and buying anything other than groceries.
Pre-emptive
for the day. We have little planned -- a play date with friends and a swim later at the YMCA. I hope to get another garden bed seeded with lettuce and spinach as well. No money to spend.

Wrapping up the month with one more
. Not a bad month, but not great. We had a couple of expenses for the kids that ate up a bit of the savings. And there was some breakage in the kitchen and chose to replace things rather than do completely without. We live a fairly stripped down lifestyle and eat all of our meals at home, so not having the couple of things that make cooking more efficient is a real pain.
March will be another tightly budgeted month. We are super close to being able to pay our tax bill. That will be a huge relief! And then on to paying our cc debt. Keeping on, keeping on....
