You're not old, Ash.  It's still pretty new and I don't quite understand it myself.  Hopefully someone can explain the benefit of it!

I like it because I read a lot of blogs and such, and it's a nice place to "pin" or essentially bookmark all the things that I find of interest- recipes, design ideas, craft ideas, etc.  When I revamped my closet and went shopping just a month ago I did some perusing and made a pinboard of some outfits that I felt matched my style so that I was inspired before I went shopping (I am so retail challenged, I always buy the same things and never branch out).  I keep recipes, ideas for Owen's birthday party, etc all on my pin boards.  I think it's great because before I would either forget all about great ideas I found OR they got lost in my bookmarks menu (I seriously had over 200 things bookmarked.)

J - OK, I'm on the waiting list for an invite! Also, is that from "Hyperbole and a Half"? Cause that chick is HILARIOUS.  My favorite is this one:

I like Pinterest because I don't have a ton of time to surf the net anymore, and so I just let the people I follow filter out all the really good stuff for me to look at. I am also a visual person, and text bookmarks did not work for me, but with photo-based pins, I am way more likely to go back and look at anything I have deemed worthy of remembering. I pin about craft projects, home decor, recipes, kid stuff, illustration etc. Visual stuff, mostly.

I have a question - Oren is 3 months in a couple of days, but already 16 lbs or more. I started carrying him in the Ergo without the infant insert, but I've already had about 4 moms stop me around the neighbourhood, concerned about his spine and hips. He fits in there fine - his legs bend out of the carrier fine, his head sticks out over the back, he has a pretty steady neck.  Should I be using the insert still? He seems way too big for it now.

Thanks!

Jack is 2.5 months and nearly 16 lbs, too. I haven't put him in the ERgo, but I put him in the wrap with his legs out, which is the same position. I wouldn't worry.

Wow, you must live in a progressive area if you've had 4 moms have been concerned about his position!  I've carried babies in all sorts of ways and never had anyone say anything about it.  Coralie is 10 weeks and roughly 14lbs.  I carry her in a Beco Gemini with her legs bent out.  I'm sure he's fine in there.  I'm pretty sure the weight says 15lbs+, so technically he's big enough anyway.

Ha! Abra, I was thinking the same thing. My area is so un-progressive, the most I've gotten is an older cashier at the grocery store telling me I should have him in his carseat so I don't hit him with groceries while shopping. (WTH?!) Also, "He needs to get used to things." I'm pretty sure she wasn't concerned with his position. wink1.gif

Why on earth would you hit him with groceries while shopping?

I saw a carseat fall off a cart once. Mom caught the baby, but it freaked us out a lot. We don't even have the little carseat that ones out of the car.

Um, don't you know?  Grocery shopping is 10 times funner if you put the baby in the middle of the cart, stack your first boxes ON the baby, then throw the rest of your groceries AT the baby to try to knock down your box tower.

That's scary, Sara. And I have no idea why or how I would hit him with groceries...

Too funny, Ash.

It's been a good week for crazy comments here. I was stuck waiting for an oil change for an hour this week. The cashier decided it would be a good time for us to "compare babies." She actually asked me if J gets all sweaty because of the hormones in my breastmilk. ?!? Then she asked if he was rolling over, to which I replied no. She said, "Oooh. My baby has been rolling over since she was a week and a half old." Really. A week and a half. Huh.

Since when is this a contest??

Btw, I'm currently passing my super sweaty hormones to my baby even as I type. The horror!

Amanda WTH is that cashier talking about?  Hormones? Sweaty? I'm so confused.  Babies that roll over super early sometimes have issues with muscle tone, or it's just a fluke.  She obviously doesn't know that since she was bragging about it.  I hate when women make it into a competition.  Ridiculous.

I live in a progressive city but I was at the fabric store the other day and literally 3 women stopped me and said "wow I have never seen something like that before!" when D was in his Boba carrier.  I was kind to them, but in the back of my mind thought HUH?  I see babies in carriers ALL. THE. TIME. when I'm out.  It's Portland for crying out loud.  Carriers and slings abound!  lol.gif

banghead.gif   Why do they make kids toothpaste that says "call poison control right away" if more than the amount used to brush teeth is swallowed?!  How is that safe for kids?!  Why do dentists give this crap out?!  We do not use it for our kids, but dd had a sample tube from her dentist appointment stashed in her room and guess who found it and ate some in the 5 minutes he was upstairs alone while I changed the baby?!!  I don't know how much he ate, but I'm afraid this will be a repeat of the styrofoam eating incident!  Should I be concerned?

My all time favorite baby-carrier comment is, "I wish they had those when I had a baby".  What?  Baby carriers have been around longer than sewn clothing!  I'm pretty sure it was one of the first human accessories.  Ha ha.

Sooo, my goat that got Polio that was supposed to have babies around the 1st of JANUARY, gave birth this morning to twins.  I had been watching her and watching her, I was so sure for the longest time that she was pregnant.   About 3-4 days ago I gave up, thinking that there was no way it could happen now.  Well, my DS came in this morning from doing his chores and said, "Peaches had a baby and no one was there to help her"!  Oooops, just when I stopped checking her 3 times a day!  Anyway, in spite of everything she had 2 healthy babies.  My other goat (Lola) also gave birth to twins on the 6th, so for a while we'll have 4 baby goats on our homestead.  Baby goats are really cute!  :)

Jaimee - I doubt it's anything to worry about.  It's probably the same amount of fluoride that it's a few glasses of city tap water, which as we all know is perfectly safe.  :/  If in doubt, call poison control and ask, they're really helpful.
