I personally would call or watch and wait, but I'm like that.

Geez, and they put that $#@% in our water.  Ew.

My DD1 ate rat poison when she was about 10 months old.  We called poison control and it turns out that you really have to eat A LOT of poison before there's a negative reaction.  We were really glad that we called poison control though, they were really helpful and got us through it.

Sarah... thank you for linking that... I called and they said to give 2 tums and a glass of milk and call back if he has persistent vomiting.  She didn't seem too concerned b/c the tube is mostly full.  I doubt he swallowed much, but seriously this is getting ridiculous.  I cannot be everywhere at once!

In the toothpaste link, they keep referring to "a large amount of toothpaste" but are unclear what that means. I'd probably call poison control. If it was one of those small sample tubes, I bet eating most of the tube wouldn't constitute "a large amount." It never hurts to call, though! Keep us updated!

Yeah, I think products (including toothpaste) have to over warn to be safe. Dd2 ate borax once, and poison control was so unconcerned. They didn't even advise extra water/ milk. Of course, borax is different from rat poison, but you know what I mean.

That's good! Sorry you are struggling. Would it be a huge headache to make Austin shadow you everywhere? I know it's tough with two so young. Hugs.

He wouldn't do it.  I was changing the baby when he decided to go upstairs.  Efforts to distract him and keep him downstairs with me were useless.  I figured there wasn't anything he can get into up there anyway.  We've taken to locking our bathroom door and have gone through all of dd's artwork to make sure there wasn't anything else dangerous after the styrofoam incident.  Of course, I didn't notice the stupid little tube of toothpaste in a drawer.  How do they find these things so quickly?  Anyway, I really think he probably only got about a heaping toothbrush's worth if that b/c the tube is almost full and there was a big blob of it on the outside and all over his hands as well.  His breath smells of it and he says he ate some, so that's the only evidence I have that some actually went in his mouth.  Thanks for the reassurance that this is probably nothing.  He seems fine so far.  FX.

My baby has been rolling over since she was a week and a half old." Really. A week and a half. Huh.
Since when is this a contest??

Yeah well...my baby already crawls.  And talks.  And has won 3 Olympic Gold medals in gymnastics.

Ok but really- I think my baby is the super tiniest baby ever.  People call her a newborn daily and ask me what Im doing out when I *just* had this tiny little baby...on the plus side they think she is "SOOOOO alert for a baby who is just a few weeks old!".  :/

ETA:  Im convinced poison control thinks nothing is actually toxic and water can cure everything.  My son ate a whole blister pack of Loratadine once and they told me to give him some water and he would be fine.

Were they right?  Was he fine or did you have to seek medical attention?

People keep making comments about Rhyko being a 'newborn', too ... despite the fact that he is 16 pounds and almost five months old! I think people forget what a newborn actually looks like or something ! lol.gif

We ended up having to take him to the ER to be hydrated.  He refused to eat or drink and got terrible diarrhea.

Yeah, this is true.

Yeah, well my baby doesn't crawl or roll over and he just discovered his hands on Tuesday, but that's because he's reserving all his energy for doing calculus. That's right-my baby does calculus. So there! orngtongue.gif

I actually love comparing babies. Not like mine are smart or athletic but I love to see how different they are.

My oldest almost crawled off a table the day he was born, do I get points for that?

No, it only counts if he was talking while he did it.

Of course!  Sentences, but he had a lisp so I wasn't sure.

I like to hear about other people's babies, but not to 'compare' in a negative way.  There is such a wide range of normal, and it's interesting to see how other babies develop.

All joking aside, I agree with this.  I learned with my first right away that there is no "normal".  I have had two (and probably 3) children who learned everything different and on a different time table.  Both were slow in areas and advances in others- and they taught me there is NO box, and that a child that fits ALL the pediatric guidelines is actually the one that is NOT the "norm".

Ok, and seriously, my baby is super small still.  She is still on the scale, though...at a whopping 10 pounds and finally fitting just right into her 0-3 month sized clothes  lol.gif.  If I had not had the previously mentioned experience, I might be concerned.
