My Doc said that my sons head grew in a matter of 6 months and its big!

So heres my situation, i went for my 19 month olds baby well check up in july of 2010 and the doc measured his head circumferance at 19.02".  well when December of 2010 rolled by I took him in for his shots and the Doc remeasured his head at 20".  she started tellingme that we will recheck again in february and if his head circum. went above 20.5 98%tile than we have to do a head CT.  Now im worried day in and day out and this has been all i think about.  my son in general is  really tall 2ft 10" in the 98%tile and wt. is 27ibs now.  people see him they say he looks older.  the doc said it could just be genetic and she wants to check but my son is advanced for his age and meeting all his milestones ahead of not early and otherwise healthy.  but the doc has scared me to death and now my mind is wondering with fear and i need alll the positive support in terms of this situation and if i have anything to worry about.  my doc said he never had a large head before but between june and december must of had a growth spurt.  thsnks for any feedback on this matter

I think you can relax.  Babies are supposed to have growth spurts.  It's also unlikely those measurements are exact anyway.  Look at the child, not at the chart.

My daughter has a big head (always has!), but it's not abnormally big just on the top of the chart. She sounds very similar in size to your DC. Her last appointment she was 37in, 29.5lbs, 20in head. Sounds like he just had a growth spurt and is fine!
