what are your favorite towns near Williston, ND?

My husband is now in Williston, ND.  I am looking to move there this summer.  Currently my plan is to move to Bismarck unless I can be closer to Williston.  Any thoughts, suggestions, or good vibes and prayers welcome!

I think your best bet is going to be Bismarck if you don't want to be right in the middle of all the crazy chaos in oil country.  Minot is too expensive after the flood and with all the oil activity.  Everything closer to Williston is very small and congested.  Good luck finding a place.  Does your DH work 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off?  Or would he drive back to Bismarck every day?

Sandy! We have talked on FB, I didn't realize you were from Gig Harbor. I am from Western Washington, too!

There are lots of teeny tiny towns, but if you want to have access to, you know, services, Bismarck is a good option. But it is a very long drive, there is no way he would be commuting every day. That's not humanly possible. ;-) And I know you have mentioned that isn't the plan.

If small towns are on the bill, though, have you looked at Wibaux, just across the border in Montana? When I was house hunting recently I found that houses in Wibaux were far cheaper than those in Beach, which is the closest thing to it in MT, and there were several available. We aren't up for being separated during the week, though, so we stopped looking a while ago. Wibaux would be half the distance to Bismarck.
