Yeah, it's hard not to feel insecure or take comments like that to heart - especially from the MIL!

So my heel has been really hurting lately and a friend suggested plantar fasciitis.  I looked it up and the only plausible cause would be 'sudden weight gain'.  I'm afraid to step on the scale!  Hahaha.  It really hurts though. :(

Ugh.....gained another 10lbs in 5 weeks.  Not good friends not good.  I am now up 30lbs and am 22 weeks.  As long as I can avoid seeing the 200 on the scale I think I will be OK   Probably wouldn't be so bad if I would lay off the crap and exercise :P  I just feel so unmotivated :(

I have started using 8 lbs arm weights.  I have to be sitting down, otherwise I get too much tugging in my abdomen.  I don't want to loose my muscles.  The more muscles we have, the more calories we burn.

Anyone else using weights?

is it ok if i am afraid to weigh myself? lol. i might wait until next week. i was already up 13 lbs at 19 weeks. and i am not even to the part where i gain the most.

We just got back from vacation, where we ate out three meals a day for five days :/ I am terrified to weigh myself! I'm guessing I'll be around 158-159 now, which will put me at 14-15 pounds gained. I don't want to go over 175, which is going to be quite the challenge after my week of gluttony.

Wow, reading this makes me feel huge.  I've gained almost 30lbs already!

I met one of our neighbors last Friday.  He's an awesome guy.  We were talking about kids and family.  He's got four boys so my boyfriend mentioned we had our fourth on the way.  The neighbor looked at me and said, "pretty soon, huh?"  He gave me a shocked look when I said, "Soon?  Not so much.  I'm due June 8th!"  He apologized and said he just figured because it looked like I was about a month away.  Everyone I know keeps asking "are you sure you've got your dates right?  You look like you're about to pop!"  Ugh...it makes me feel like I'm either going to break the Guiness World Record for largest baby or I'm having a twin they haven't discovered yet...because at least then I wouldn't have to feel so bad about my size!

Sarasyn - I was thinking the same thing as I was reading through! I'm already up at least 25 pounds (I have stopped weighing myself between doctors appointments, whats the point?) and people keeping using the word "huge"... I'm eating mostly good foods and exercising moderately, and all of the weight seems to be going right to my belly, so I don't think there's much I can do, but I am dreading May if I'm already so big people think I'm huge! yikes. I would really hate to gain 50 pounds or more - it took me 3 years to drop the 30 pounds I gained in college... This is my first, so I guess I'll just wait and see what happens.

I'm still feeling pretty good. I'm 20w5d and still up 7lbs.  I have NO idea why it is so low.  But I am still super pumped about it.  The only reasonable explanation is that my body knows it has more fat stores than it did the last two pregnancies.  I haven't been as hungry as the last two times and I haven't been gorging myself as often.  It's still really weird because I'm still my lazy self, not exercising and I'm not really watching what I'm eating either.  I haven't even had anyone ask me if I'm pregnant yet and I definitely look it.  It's probably because I'm always wearing my winter coat for journeys into public.  Although I can barely zip it at the moment, so pretty soon I'll start having it open and I'm guessing more people will be able to tell.

I weighed this morning after all. I'm coming up on 23 weeks and have gained 14.5 pounds. I would like to keep my weight gain from this point at 16.5 pounds or less. That would put me with around 20-25 pounds to lose when I come home from the hospital, which wouldn't be too bad.

becoming - you and i are at exactly the same weight gain & weight right now. i'm right there with you on the goal of gaining 16.5 pounds from this point out. i'll be thrilled if that's all i gain! do you think it's doable for you to only gain 16.5 pounds from here out? i can't remember exactly at what point i gained most of my weight the last time, but i think it was in my second trimester. Nicole - you seem like  you are in no danger of gaining 50 lbs. 7lbs up to this point gives you plenty of wiggle room btw now and 40ish weeks. smile.gif

Awesome! We can be weightwatching buddies. orngbiggrin.gif

I think it's doable, and I always gain the bulk of my weight in the second trimester. I was looking back at my records from my other pregnancies, and I gained anywhere from 12-20 pounds in the second trimester with all three of my other pregnancies. I have only gained 11 in the second trimester this time so far, and I only have -- what? 4 weeks to go in the second trimester? My weight gain usually stops almost entirely by 35 weeks. So I'm feeling pretty confident about this. We can do it!!

I am almost exactly the same weight-wise but I'm a week behind you guys. I remember gaining a lot between 26-32 weeks, and then dropping way off around 35. I think I ended up right around 30 with both pregnancies, so I'm hoping it's doable to end up there.  I'm almost 22 weeks, so one lb a week from now til 37 would be another 15, I'd be very happy with that.

Let's do it! thumb.gif I'm feeling pretty hopeful about this! Yay!!

I know! I am so happy about that. I might have to change my goal to gaining less than 30lbs...which was kind of my underlying goal anyway because that would put me where I ended up the last two times.

That's where I'm at, dreading May!  I've already got people joking that I'm having triplets because of my size!  I've had people telling me "not much longer yet, huh?"  Everyone keeps asking "Are you sure you're not having twins?"  Um...no, I'm not sure...but this is medical science and I'm considering not having an ultrasounds so there's room for error there...if people are already thinking I'm going to be dropping this baby in March, what am I going to look like in May!  Like you said, it's all going straight to the belly!  It's scary!

so i just went to the doc yesterday and they weighed me. i was at 163. so i had to ask what they weighed me at before preg. at 6 weeks i weighed 147. so that is only 16 lbs since then. but the last before that was 143. so that is actually 20. not too bad this time. hopefully i wont gain 20 more lbs sigh.

Did they seem okay with that gain, or did they fuss? Just trying to gauge what my doctor's reaction is going to be when I go back next time.

I think it depends on the doctor's opinion on weight gain.  I know of a doctor who wants women follow a very strict max of 25lb weight gain.  My CNMs at the hospital never batted an eye at my 50lb + weight gain.

Agggg. I stepped on the scale at the midwives office (totally voluntary -they don't keep track of weight) and I was almost 180lbs ;( siggghhh. I'm not sure what I weighed before I'm thinking 145ish (size 9/10 with good muscles) so 35lbs already.... sigghhhh....

I try to eat well and exercise but I just seem to pack on the weight. I guess at least I'll have good fatty milk for the baby again.

i sighed about it but my fam doc (love her) said it looked fine. baby seemed a good size and was measuring slightly ahead, i didnt seem to have any swelling and my fat deposits looked normal and natural. so she was not worried at all. the midwife doesnt care what i weigh, doesnt weigh me and tells me all the time to not worry bc i will need it. lol. i, on the other hand, dont want to gain almost 60  lbs. it seems the less i weigh the more i gain.
