Please don't gain 50lbs+ thread - Page 5

I'm 33 lbs and almost 35 weeks now. I was / am hoping to keep it at a 35 lb gain - but I'm not sure how likely that is now. I'm glad to know that I'm not alone in the "not thrilled about my weight gain" camp. We'll have to start a "get back in shape" thread once the babies are born. :) I would be very down for that. Anyone else interested?

Ok.  I weighed myself last night at the chiro and I  was shocked that I have only gained about 20 lbs!  I am huge!  I was really thinking I was going to gain 40 this time...  Soooo relieved.  But confused at how I can be so big and not weigh that much.

I'm 33 lbs at 35weeks!  I was hoping to keep my weight at 30lbs, let's just hope I don't go over 40lbs.

I was thinking today on my long waddle, I can't wait to get my body back in shape.  I'm so in for extra motivation.

Because this thread keeps popping up in my subscribed threads, I decided to weigh myself today.  I'm still at 28lbs up.  So I am definitely happy with that.  I wish it was a little less, but I also wish I would have started out a lot less!  :)  I'm happy with where I am and in the next 7 or so weeks, I hope to not gain more than 7 or so pounds!  We shall see.

at 34 weeks i got weighed and hadnt gained any from my 32 weeks. i think my gain has slowed even though baby is gaining steady. so i am at a 36 lb gain about.

well, I went over. I think I'm at about 55-60 lbs. Shit. Oh well, I lost it all last time and I can do it again...

monkey's mum-- I think we should turn this from a "Please Don't" to a "S%!t Yeah!  I gained 50+ lbs!" thread... and those of us who hit the mark should get some sort of prize or something... Wait, I guess that would be the baby :)  But still-- I'm with you on the gain and I think I need to start viewing it as some kind of awesome accomplishment. thumb.gif

I am up about 25 lbs... However, it is really all about how heavy you were when getting pregnant. I was carrying about 20 extra lbs, so to add 50 would have been very bad.. especially as with my first I actually gained almost those 20 while nursing.

BTW, over half of my weight gain came in the first trimester when I was not able to eat normally. Since being able to get back to limiting carbs, I have gained much more slowly and not very much. I am just a person for whom the idea of "multigrains, only" or whatever does not work at all. I gain all the same if I eat too many carbs.

I'm losing now! I've lost 4-5 pounds in the last two weeks and am now back down to a 29 pound total gain.

Now at 38 1/2 weeks and gained 15 or 16 lbs. If my feet are big on a day because of heat I don't bother checking. otherwise I check everyday just like I did before. That's what people who have lost a lot of weight  (I was in size 24 went to size 10) do to make sure they don't go up again. Hoping for baby to come out and see us now. Good luck to all on your births.

That's very true. With my first I was already 10 lbs over my ideal weight and then added 50 on top of that - and it felt like too much.

Are you eating differently? I think you and I were neck and neck on the weight gain for awhile. As of right now I'm at 33 lbs last I checked. I'm hoping to keep it around this weight. I'd really like not to get to 40 lbs if I can help it.

I'm drinking much more water and watching my salt intake. They gave me a low-sodium diet at my 34-week appointment because of my super swollen ankles, and while I'm not following it to the letter, I am more conscious of my sodium intake now. I think this weight loss has been mostly fluid. Plus I'm not constipated anymore like I was in the second trimester/beginning of the third, so that probably helps.

Yes for prizes!  I had my MW appointment yesterday and I broke 200.  Sigh.  That puts me up 45 lbs.  I know that some of it is water weight because my ankles have started to get puffy.  I think the puffiness is starting later with this one than DS but that's probably because his birthday is in August and the heat really makes me swell up.  It's amazing how much more you feel gravity when you've got 45 more lbs for it to act on.  Getting up off the floor is quite the production around here.

When I was riding my bike the other day, for the first time in years!, I tried to stand up on the bike to go up a hill.  OMG, it was hilarious, there is no way I can support my weight like that right now.

I am up 31lbs at 34 weeks.  I am over 200lbs now.  I'm hoping to not gain too much water weight these next few weeks, but I don't know how "good" I will be about keeping track of my salt intake.  I am drinking plenty of water though.  And my midwife suggested watermelon to me, so now that's all I want to eat!

Yes!  I can see it now.  I'm LOL at the thought of trying to stand up and pedal at the same time.

And I just bought a watermelon at the store yesterday!  So that's good for being swollen?  Wonderful!
