Have any other Canadians sent off their beads?

My DH tried to send mine off this morning but they couldn't sell him US stamps or a prepaid package for the return journey. So the alternatives are to a) send an estimated amount in cash included in the package (they couldn't tell us an exact amount) or b) paypal the exact amount after shipping (or an estimated amount before it gets shipped.) 

Which method works for you Cheryl? I would rather avoid cash if we can. You do have a PP account right? I thought I remembered you saying so on FB. 

Has anyone else come up with a better way to ship them back from the US?

DH also mentioned that they would have to be sent as a parcel rather than a letter (even if it is light enough) and the LONG customs form must be completed. Yikes, complicated:( but I am so excited to do this. I've never done anything interactive with an online  group before.

I shipped mine yesterday, and I just put an already paid for mailer inside the other one... but I kinda had to guess on the final weight of what you'd be shipping back, so I added an extra dollar in there! If it's still not enough, please let me know!!

I, too, guessed on the weight for the way back.  I figured it should be somewhat similar since I'm sending 30 beads down and should be getting about that back.  The postal worker was a crank-ass and told me I "couldn't" prepay unless I knew the exact weight.  I had to remind her it was okay for me to pay over if I wanted to.  Anyway, I hope mine is enough too!  It would have been $1.95 to ship back to me as is and I have almost $2.50 on the return envelope.  I would have done more, but she was being all weird about some wack-a-do increments I could add return postage in.  And then got all pissy as she started putting actual stamps on the envelope.  Anyway, let me know if I owe you more and I will mail you down some money or stamps!

Had the same issue as Monkey's Mum in Canada. ALSO had a crank-ass postal worker (is it a job requirement or something?). 

Anyway, will use PP then.

im in canada too and i guess i will use paypal. i thought i could just buy a postage paid bubble mailer, but they dont seem to have those anymore?

anyway, im leaving this (like everything i do) to the last minute, so should be able to mail them tomorrow :)

other then cranky tellers, it sounds like its going good! I'm so excited. I cleared off a shelf in my pantry to store all the beads/shipping stuff etc while I await all the packages. I'm thinking of doing something special for the stringing. I may plan a beach day, SOLO and string them with the waves in the background. I've always thought the ocean is a perfect labor symbol. And a trip by myself to my favorite beach sounds heavenly. <3

Rebirth, I am petite and usually necklaces hang a little low on me. Will it be easy for me to shorten it if it is too long? (I'm not very jewelery-savvy)

I sooo appreciate that you are doing this and all the mamas involved, such a great idea!

Also, did anything ever happen with birth buddies?

Let's see how many people are interested in birth buddies! That could be really fun....I will make a thread!

I'll try to make them adjustable, it depends on the hole sizes of the beads if that will be possible, but I hope so! :) I've recieved from 17 mamas so far, so stringing should start soon as I get all thebeads! woohoo!

rebirth, I love that you may string them at the beach...the ocean is such a perfect setting, and it'll be added bonus if this whole project affords you some wonderful alone-time.  Thanks so much for doing this!!

Hey! Just wanted to bump this thread up. I randomly thought about the bead swap the other night, and just remembered to look up this thread to check on things. I hadn't seen the edit on the first post about the purple names. Maybe other mamas haven't either, and we can clear up some confusion about who is who with regard to packages and stuff.

I'm still excited about this, and love that so many of us are all involved!

Yeah, pay no attention to my lack of properly updating the first page...all beads have been received. If you are a Canadian Mama...make sure you get in touch with Rebirth about PPing some money to cover return postage, other than that....we're all set! All beads received!

I am pretty sure they are strung and Rebirth was planning to ship out very soon! <3
