Hi! We are new to home schooling- as of today! I was just wondering if there was any one else in this area home schooling. I have a six year old DS (fresh from 1st grade) and a three year old DD.

Hey mama, welcome to homeschooling! I homeschool my 2 8 y/o dds and my 4 y/o ds, and we love it!!!

I'm not sure where you are located, but Addison County has a thriving homeschool community... here is a link to our website:

We meet on the last Monday of each month at Ilsley Library in Middlebury, and are always happy to welcome new members, or even just curious parents who are considering homeschooling. We also have a weekly Lego club, monthly circle time, and our annual Science and History Fair is coming up too... so be sure to check out the calendar and maybe we'll get an opportunity to meet up sometime! :)

Hey thanks for the reply Hairy Armpits. I'm in Northfield...not sure how far from Middlebury, but I will check out the link and imagine we would be up for a drive after mud season!

Here are some yahoo groups that might be able to help you.

There is the central vermont homeschool resource (cvt_homeschool resource)

Also there is VT-homeschooling & vthomeschoolers...While they cover the state, it might be a good way to find resources closer to you.

Enjoy.

Hi! Sorry I'm so late to this thread. I think I saw a post from you on one of the yahoo groups, maybe MamaSays?

We will be sending in our registration next month and we're in Barre. There is a group that meets in Plainfield, but I'm not sure of the details of that. I have heard that the average age there is about 8, but that's through the grapevine. There is also a Randolph group that has a yahoo group and seems to be pretty active, as well as the Mad River Homeschoolers who are very active. HTH!

Thanks PNCTink. I ended up getting a yahoo account and have connected with those groups that you mentioned. I haven't actually been to any of them yet, though. How old is/are your kids....and what brings you to home schooling, if you don't mind my asking!
