Lurking around today as well. Baby is sick as well, but this is not new, it is just non stop illness for him. I was going to go to a memorial tonight with DD1 but with the sick baby, I just didn't have it in me. It was for a child and those are just so difficult under best of circumstances.

But I've been feeling left out when I hear about the FB group. Is there a way for me to join and keep my anonymity?
What's going on with us is that DD slept for 5 hours in a row last night, and 6 the night before. I almost don't want to say anything because it's so beautiful and I don't want to mess it up. so "sssh!" I didn't say anything. sleepytime.gif

Hey Tear, glad to hear baby is sleeping better. Any tips? Did you do anything in particular, or did it just happen?

How much are you all connected, and how?

I often wonder the same about FB, if it will go away. I've never officially been on there. My sister loves it and so I occasionally sign on as her if there's family photos I'd like to see, etc. I can't imagine having time for FB. I have been on Flickr for several years, and that's a bit of a social media thing for me. But I never get particularly personal - - I have friends on Flickr but our associations are more about the love of photography/art than about what's going on in our personal lives. My guess is that FB will stay. There are over 300 million members on there, and lately I've noticed that in order to join other sites (i.e. pinterest) you have to have a FB or Twitter account. Unlike Myspace, FB has a real clean, simpler interface and once so many people are on there, actively sharing so much, it's hard to break that. Just my 2 cents. But who knows, maybe folks will tire of it. I have. wink1.gif

As for baby Sam, he rolls over (from front and back), does a semi-crawl thing where he pushes and wriggles his legs a little and moves forward a few inches, and he babbles quite a bit. He grabs at everything and tries putting it all in his mouth! He isn't able to sit up just yet. He's had a taste of pear, and a little bit of rice cereal, but no real solids yet, just a taste...He'll be 6 months next week!

His sleeping pattern is still hard. He takes 2 or 3 naps a day (never for more than 45 minutes, though right now he is presently breaking that record!?), and at night he gets up anywhere from 3-6 times. We've had a rare night where's gotten up only twice, but again that's rare. Aside from that, he is sweet, smiling, and rosy-cheeked...

Ree Tee we have almost daily discussions about sleep. It seems pretty hit or miss. It does seemed to have helped though to not feed her if she wakes up within two of the last feeding. Also I try to really wake up when she does so we don't both fall asleep nursing. It gets her really tanked up. After we started those two things, she started sleeping some longer stretches more often. Hope that helps for yiu *and continues for us). winky.gif

Ree Tee, did you change your username? You're IR, right?

I think that cyst that we learned about during the pregnancy is becoming and issue. I'm having pretty bad abdominal pain. Hurts to have any pressure on my belly (Oh, hi, hungry baby!). Hurts to roll. Hurts just for fun. Luckily it started before so when I was at the doc (we all share a doc) yesterday for Charles Oliver, I got to say "Eeep!"

So. Wednesday I get an ultrasound. You ever realize just how far Wednesday is from Friday? And then we'll see what's happening and make a plan. Probably surgical - not a big deal if it's not me rushing to the ER because something has exploded. Big deal if it is. If it's just cyst removal, they say I don't even really have to feed him with a bottle.  If it's caused damage, though, I figure I'll be on more drugs. And I can't pump. So this is fun. Fun!

What do you mean you can't pump?  It doesn't work? Or you don't have one?

If you CAN pump now you'll at least have a day or two's worth of milk to give him.  Would that be enough days???  Ohhh I'm so sorry you're in pain AND have to worry about this.  No fun at all!!!

Keep us updated, Becky... I hope it's just a quick removal.

I know you've had no luck with expressing milk so far.  I have plenty in my freezer that I can overnight to you. Seriously, PM me if you want to.

I just don't get enough out to matter. I did it for half an hour the other day and got drips. With pump or hand expressing.

Thank you or offering milk! That's amazing :) I will keep you posted. I hope that I'm just unhappy but nothing bad happens and we get the easy surgery.

I will send milk too, if it comes to that!!  Let us all know!!!

Thanx so much for the info. I've also noticed improvement when I focus on Sam eating enough throughout the day and before sleep time.

I think I have thrush.  I've been battling a YI for weeks now.  I used an OTC 3 day treatment and it didn't help.  And now my nips are feeling like they're affected.  No pain or cracking, but it's so uncomfortable to nurse.  It's slightly burning.  I have finally admitted defeat that I need some help and I'm going to go to the OB that was my MWs backup.  I know I need a round of diflucan.  I also want to talk about these prolapse issues, b/c despite kegels and mayan massage, I'm still kind of uncomfortable.

I also want to discuss birth control.

I really, really don't want to go on the pill, but I don't see any other option.  I don't have to start it now, obv, b/c I'm not having a cycle.  I might just get a script and when things kick back in, fill it.

Sigh.

Hi ladies, I took a break from this site for a bit but popped back on today to see how everyone's doing.  Sorry to hear of the health issues some of you are experiencing.  We all got a cold last week but it seems to be almost gone now.

Anton has two teeth and eats some solid foods now (banana, avocado, sweet potato).  No crawling yet, but he gets around pretty well by rolling or scooting.  It's a lot harder to get him to sleep these days.  I was so spoiled when he would sleep for 6-8 hours in a stretch right after he was born!  Now, not so much.  For a while we were co-sleeping, but that made me nervous that he would roll off the bed.  So now he sleeps in his own bed, but it requires more patience to get him to fall asleep there...sometimes multiple tries.  He doesn't fall asleep while nursing as often as he used to, so I have to rock him, etc.

I'm working on our Mardi Gras costumes this weekend.  We are going to be Peter Rabbit, his mother, and Mr. McGregor.  I'm decorating the stroller to be Mr. McGregor's garden.  Spent way too much on plastic vegetables yesterday.

Feeling much better today! I can standing without pain and carry Charlie! Yay!

You guys are awesome :)

Also, my son sounds like a very noisy little monster.

sorry if this is tmi but i battled yeast for a long long time and wanted to chime in with what finally fixed it for me - drinking gt's kombucha (not sure about the safety of that while nursing, i know people who do it, but i haven't) and coconut oil, topically and eating tons of it internally. like spoonfuls of it. ugh, i love coconut, but swallowing the spoonfuls of oil is gross. i forget what exact dosage i used, it's been a few years now. after a couple weeks i was yeast free and i kept up with the kombucha for a while because i liked the taste. i was miserable forever and tried all kinds of other herbal treatments but nothing was helpful like the kombucha + coconut oil. i think it worked because the kombucha has friendly yeasts that are like the ratio of what should be in our bodies and the coconut oil is an antifungal.

i've had what i thought was thrush on my nips and topical coconut oil knocked that out as well. i kept getting it back from my cloth nursing pads!

Not TMI at all!!  Thank you for sharing what worked!

Something is going on...Idk how I got this infection/overgrowth b/c I haven't been on abx, and have no other risk factors.  At first I honestly thought I was just having a reaction to the condoms we were using.  So, idk.  It's just been going on too long.

I'll try that coconut oil on my nips!!  That's a great idea, I didn't think of that!

Coconut oil sounds SO MUCH nicer than having to apply ACV!! I hope it helps!

What about for down below?  Anyone have an easy solution for that one???  shy.gif

coconut oil there too! freeze a little bit in ice cube trays and... well, you know. wear a pad after. :)

Can I just say that the thought of inserting frozen coconut oil has filled with me with joy? Not that I'm going to. Just. Bodies are so weird.
