JG - Hurray for a new garden! Bah humbug about your dd causing you to miss boot-camp. I hope her culture is negative
MelW - Yow, those are some hard decisions to make. I recognize the desire to stay in one place; we did the moving every 2-3 years for 10 years and I am glad to be settled (to a point ) Is this program so preferable that it's worth the upheaval? What have you heard about/from the other programs? Would the fact that they are not your first choice be offset by less upheaval?
Bec - on the weight loss, I'll be interested to hear how your dh does at the doc. I hope he can get the surgery finally! Sorry about the hours at work. I too marvel at career moms who find time for regular work-outs
Nic - we are planning to rent our house out for at least a year. We need to do some fixing-up before we sell, and wont have the money for it after closing on the new house. The rental market is fairly strong here right now, so we're fairly confident it will work out, especially as we live in the university neighborhood which is also close to the hospital where a new round of 140 residents comes in every year
NRR: More about the house: it's in a nicer neighborhood than our current one, 4 blocks from the park at which I spent most of my kids' childhoods, and then 4 blocks from another park that is just a big open space (ball throwing for the dog?, family frisbee). The surrounding houses are a mix of big[ger] and more modest. The neighborhood is such that there arent really any original 4 bdrm. houses, so most are 2-3, with some 4's that have additions, which is the case with our new one, and also one reason why it is so desirable - its hard to find a 4 bdrm house in the area. We're still in the University area, just slightly nicer. Um, the house is big, bigger than we were looking for, but with each visit, I'm less and less phased by the size It is also on a double lot (1/3 acre), so the yard is big, all around, even with the large house and the ENORMOUS covered beautiful back deck [with hot tub, hello! ] We're currently trying to figure out where the zip line, which will start from the deck, should end up in the yard
