Moms bf and toddler

I have a 21 month old daughter. I've been with my boyfriend since she was 9 months old so I thought she would just naturally accept him by now.  She loves him and LOVES to play with him, but there are times when she just wants mom.  She cries at times if he just looks at her and forget trying to pick her up or anything.  That's usually early in the morning or when she's sleepy.  But sometimes, she just cries if I'm sitting with my boyfriend and not giving her all of my attention.  How can I get this balanced? Anybody have any advice?  I'm open and bordering on desperate.

It's actually very normal for toddlers to have separation anxiety with their moms, even when their own fathers are involved. They are very self-centered (and I don't mean that in a derogatory way, their needs and desires are just the most important things to them). I suggest you pop into the toddlers board and see if they have any ideas.
