Pets Thread!

I thought it would be fun to start a thread all about our beloved pets!  I'll start!

This is Lady, our American Pitbull Terrier.  She's about 3 years old.  We rescued her from an acquaintance who didn't want her anymore and was going to send her to the pound, where she probably would have eventually been put down because of "Black Dog Syndrome", plus the fact that she's a pitbull.  She's the best dog ever.  love.gif  So gentle, tolerant, sweet, and playful.

cute dog, bubblema! i like her little white "socks." i would love to have a dog--one day!

we have two cats, polyverse (this is a book of poetry i like, we just call her poly) and timber. poly is timber's mother; we got her form the pound in rhode island. you get a voucher and get the cat fixed after adoption, so we brought her home & were busy & thought we'd get her fixed when we had time... but she was already pregnant! (indoor cat, she didn't get pregnant after we got her). i kept saying she was pregnant but my husband thought she was just tubby. anyhow she had 5 kittens.

timber was one of her kittens. he has cerebellar hypoplasia (the motor control part of his brain is undeveloped, he can't walk very well, he does more flopping around and has knocked out most of his canines from ramming his head into things). he does okay though. he has a couple cat beds he sits in near windows and he watches the birds. poly is about 8 years old and timber is 7 (born jan. 30, 2005!).

This is my horse Pixie ("Picture Perfect"). She has white socks like Lady!

I practice Natural Horsemanship and ride without a bit. If you've seen the movie "Buck," that is what we do. And we also play soccer! It's a super fun way to use the communication skills we learn to use with our horses. And Miss Pixie loves the ball!

And I love the kittens! What a wonderful home you've made for Timber!

We have two dogs and two cats. Moomoo is my husband's dog. She's a shitzu/maltese cross. Roscoe is my dog. He's a husky/malamute cross. The cats are mine too. Inara is a gorgeous tabby cat my daughter and I found locked in a crate in the forest by her old school. She was starving and really tiny and we brought her home and saved her. Emmanuel Kat (Emmanuel Kant...) was the kitten of one of my old cats. :)

We like to joke that we are having a son to appease my OCD. Boy and girl cats, dogs, kids and parents. :P

Poppy, I love horses!  Pixie is a beauty!  I love that she plays soccer.  :D

Jynx, I can't believe what some people do to animals.  :(  I'm so glad you and your daughter found that kitty and saved her.  love.gif

We want to buy a house with some acreage and rescue dogs & horses, and whatever else we have the resources to care for.  :)

soccer with a horse looks awesome :) yr pixie is very glamorous & sleek looking.

i used to think we would buy a tiny farm when we moved here & raise miniature goats, but then i read a book about a wee goat farm (3 goats, making cheese) and it seems so overwhelming. taking care of the horses must be pretty intense, too!

Oh I love to show off my kitties!!  Get ready for some pictures!  We have 3 - the oldest I got from a friend when her dad couldn't keep her cuz he traveled too much and felt bad for leaving her all the time.  So I took her.  Her name is Happy, but honestly we only call her Cuddy.  It is a weird way of pronouncing "kitty" and it stuck lol so that is her real name now.  I don't even think she responds to Happy anymore.  Here is Cuddy:

Then we have 2 sisters we got a few years ago when we first moved in together.  DH LOVES cats and literally if I brought a kitten home today, even though he doesn't want more than 3, he would not be able to turn them away LOL.

Our babies are soooo cute!  I have a million pics.. I will try not to post too many!  Some are with Cuddy also:

Lilly would always try to go in our mouths when she was a baby lol!  That is my hubs :)

Lilly has a shoe fetish.  As soon as you take your shoes off, she will attack them and lay on them haha!!  She also sticks her face in them, it's cute.

This is our doggy Emmett and our newest kitty Sampson. Emmett is 11 and I have had him since he was a pup (he's my baby). I was living in Mendocino, CA when I got him and he has travelled with me ever since. Sampson (Sammie) was in the parking lot of the apt complex where we live now and he followed Emmett and I on a walk one night. Needless to say I brought him in and he has been with us since. He is over a year old now, and he thinks Emmett is his mommy.

Another of Emmett :)

We also have another cat, Stanley, but I can't seem to find any pics of her at the moment. I got her at the pound about 10 years ago, not sure how old she is because she wasn't a kitten when I got her.

This is a fun thread!!

Somehow, I have no pictures on the computer...?!? I just spent a little while (too long, really!) combing facebook for photos of the animals.

Dog is Shiro, a lab/great pyrenees mix. The kid in the pictures is my DD, about a year old or so?

Bubble- stupid people :( We got our cat from someone who didn't want him any more and was going to send him to the pound where he would probably not make it because he hates noise and crowds and stops eating. Also overcrowded, they were just waiting until the humane society had "room" to take him. So I took him.

Again with the fluffy kitties! Yours are adorable. My parents have one who tries to eat food out of your mouth, too, it's cute and annoying. And yes, just the same with the shoes! I can tell when I've been gone too much because Gibson picks up my shoes in his teeth and drags them around (which is terrible, ruins your shoes!) Better than my sister's cat- if your'e gone too much for her liking, she just pees in your shoes. Yuck.

I'm still trying to figure out WHY she does this, but sometimes Lady will go find socks off the floor or out of the laundry and "chew" on them.  She usually doesn't chew them up, she just kind of gums them I guess.  It's weird, but funny.  She does like to chew and eat tiny soft things (like doll shoes, erasers, etc.).  Which is not funny, DD gets really upset.  It has taught her to keep her room picked up though.

Also, she somehow knows when we're about to leave and will go get in her kennel and sit there until someone comes to close the door.  It's hilarious!  I still haven't figured out how she knows, but it definitely has something to do with me coming out of the bathroom/bedroom.  That's when she goes in, but not every time I come out.  Only when we're about to leave.  Maybe she knows if I put on makeup and get dressed that we must leaving?  I don't know.  It's so weird, and funny.

The kitty with gold on her shoulders and face is Whiskers. She died last weekend.

In the bouncy seat is Pixel. She's still kicking. This is one of the few pictures I have of her where she doesn't look like a black blob. She's has very thick dark fur which absorbs all light.

We went down the street to pick up my older daughter from a friends and I met the friends grandmother for the first time. My toddler kept talking about our dead cat while she played with their cat. It was kind of freaky sounding. I kept trying to tell the lady that our cat had just died and it was still fresh in DD2's mind. It just sounded really morbid coming from a tiny girl with curls and a purple coat.

It warms my heart to see so many loved pets and responsible owners - seems like I usually see and hear the opposite.
