Full Moon on Tuesday!

What do you think about the theory of the full moon and going into labor?   Some say old wives tale- but I think it could have an effect if the baby is ready.     Anyone hoping for a full moon baby?    I read somewhere that the effect of the full moon (on the tides)  and labor starts the day before the full moon and 2 days afterward-  esp afterward bc the waning of the full moon.

I think it would be pretty cool to say my baby was born on the full moon (or that labor started then...)  but i'm also a-ok if baby wants to hang out inside for a couple more weeks. (my EDD is the 15th.)

 

 

Do you think the full moon theory is a hoax or do you think there is something to it?

Not sure-but tomorrow has been my "guess date" for awhile. so far I haven't had any prelabor anything but a dull backache. I am so ready to meet this babe, and tomorrow would be perfect!

Well, as a goat farmer with 35+ births a year, I definitely see more births at moon shift- both in the days surrounding full moon and the days surrounding new moon.  Absolutely.  We also see mamas wait for peace, dark, and warmth...

Well my DS#1 was born in the midst of a huge snowstorm (he was induced, but I don't think it would have been as successful were he not ready to come), and my labor with DS#2 began on the night of a full moon, so yes, I definitely think mother nature has her influence...

I'm totally ready to hope for anything. Everyday feels like labor but never progresses. I pray I'm progressing where it really matters. ;)

I definitely believe the lunar phase has its effects on labor (afterall it even seems to effect our cycles). Plus, L&D wards do increase staffing around the full moon and tend to increase around significant low or high pressure weather systems. Mother nature is certainly connected to our bodies. 

 

I'm due at the new moon, but I'm very curious to see how the full moon might effect me. Since we've had a couple weather systems move through in the past 6 days, I've had some big changes. It seems the moon phase could do the same, especially if we had a weather front coming.

tuesday is my guess date, and the forecast is rain - a homebirth next to the fire on a rainy day sounds just lovely. Trying to send those vibes to baby :)

my daughter was a full moon baby and my son was a new moon....my fingers are crossed!

Well, DS1 was born 2 days after the full moon and 2 days after an ultrasound. We had an ultrasound today and the full moon is tomorrow, so I'm hoping that gets things going! I'm not due until the new moon, but I'm so ready now! No labor and I'm not dilated at all, so there are no indicators that I might go, but maybe a surprise labor will happen!

my second was born 2 days after the full moon in 2008. 

 

i am totally down with tomorrow!  whoo hoo.

 

i like the date of 2-10-12, as well.  so, maybe we'll wait until friday?

 

nourish- we have the same EDD!

Wow! Definitely nesting today smile.gif. Never nested with my first (induced). I haven't nested until now with #2.

clearly, my daughter was down with being born yesterday, too!  such a great labor and birth with her.  woo hoo!

Congrats on Full Moon Babies from Gunter and Frogautumn!

 

 

Gunter- cool we share(d) and EDD (the 15th)!  I'm a *little* bit jealous about your full moon baby!!  SO happy everything went well for you!

 

:)

 

Maybe mine will be a New moon baby!  (Although I guess today is still in the window for 2 days after the full moon!)   I think the 10th is the absolute soonest this baby would show, but I'm leaning more towards the 20th.
