Ovulation without BBT shift?

I am nursing my 17 month old DD2 several times a night and throughout the day.  I got pregnant with DD2 while nursing DD1 in the same way and around 17 months, so it is possible for my body....

Anyways, I had a chemical pregnancy (with first PP egg, I had not had a cycle yet) in early January and I am now on CD30.  I thought I O'd on CD 26, but my temp  went back down yesterday and today.  I have been doing oral temps and wanted to try vaginal just to see and I indeed had a temp shift down over the past 2 days.

I was having lots of O symptoms, EWCM, my cervix was high, soft and open and now CM is dry and Cervix is Low, firm and medium (I don't know if it ever gets more closed than it is).  My nipples have been sensitive off and on.

Anyways, my chart shows my oral temps, but I don't know how accurate they are since I have a stuffy nose and have been sleeping with my mouth open.

My question.... is O still possible?  Is there always a temp shift after O?  Should I just write off this month?

Thanks!

Well, you could do both types of temping... wake, take your oral temp, then take it vaginally and compare.  If you vaginal temp is significantly higher- like 1 to 2 degrees higher- then you might be on to something.  Otherwise I really think O is just very delayed.  This is typical when you first get your ppAF back.  I had some 50-60 day cycles when I first got AF back after my first.  I wouldn't write this month off at all.  You DTD around that first fertile time, so if you did O without a thermal shift, then you still have a shot!  It is possible to O without a thermal shift.  In this case, the woman's temperature does not respond to the higher levels of progesterone in her body.  Are you new to charting?  If you've charted in the past and seen a thermal shift, then this is not your pattern.  If this is your first chart or you've never seen a thermal shift in the past, then maybe you are one of these women!  It is possible... not common, but possible.

Beyond all this, I would continue to be on the look out for another patch of fertile CF and a softening cervix and DTD again then.  If it never happens (and you don't get a BFP) and you bleed then either you did O and didn't get pregnant or you're having breakthrough bleeding and will gear up to O again in a few days or weeks after that.  Either way, you're waiting for the next patch of fertile CF.  Good luck!

Thank you.  I am just getting so frustrated.  I had my first PP period at 13 months with DD1 and was   pregnant at 17 months pp.  I have not had my first PP period, but did have a chemical pregnancy last month, then this crazy month.  I wanted to have the next one around the same age spacing, so that time has come and gone.... making me just a little more crazy.  I guess I will continue to look for signs.

My charts in the past had a definite shift at O. No good.

Thanks again.

TMI warning.....

I should add that I started getting a yeast infection (I think my first ever) and my kids stuffy nose on CD 28.  Could both of those make my temp continue to dip?  I am pretty sure that I did O on CD 26 but I am just so confused.  I may be holding out false hope...

I mean there is always a chance, but I would say not likely.  Usually illness raises your temp from the stress on your body.  Sorry!

It really doesn't look like I ovulated yet.... so, what in the world can I expect?  Will it be another 14-21 days until my body tries again?  will my egg still be  ok for fertilization?  Anyone ever get pregnant at CD40-50?  Can I induce my period somehow?  What in the world is going on?

You could gear up to O again in a matter of days or it could be weeks.  There is really no way to predict, but more commonly it will be a matter of days until you get another patch of fertile CF.  Your egg will be just fine for conceiving, nothing happens to it when O is delayed.  And yes, plenty of women have gotten pregnant very late in a cycle.   There are some things you can do it induce bleeding, but I personally would not do that.  O could just be around the corner.  I know it's hard, but my best advice is to be patient with your body.  Focus on relaxing, eating well, exercising regularly, etc. and your body will try again.  FX it's soon!
