Charting with illness cd1 to current (cd14)

I've been so sick with an incredible cold/virus since cd1.  This has involved lots of chest/nasal congestion, cough, ear infection, and low grade fever.  I'm getting better but I'm still sick.  I seriously have not been this sick in years.

So anyway, my chart temps are really off - and I don't know what to do about it.  (I am breathing thru my mouth all night, plus I likely have slight fever issues at times).

I think I ovulated cd11.  I always ovulate on the last day of EWCM - plus my opk seems to agree with this.  And, my temps look like it a little, tho that may mean nothing at all.

This is my first real cycle post-miscarriage.  I did have a previous ovulation (on what I determined to be cd14 based on m/c bleeding).

Historically, I always ovulate on cd12 or cd13, so this cd11 is early for me.

I woke up much later on Saturday 2/4, and I did not adjust my temp for that.  So, it should be lower.

Just wondering what you guys think re my ovulation day?  And if my BD timing was okay?

Thanks so much!

Hi Julie... I'm sorry you're so sick.  I'm really hating winter since, for my family, it's basically just three months of constant cycles of illness.  Sigh...  Anyway, I'm seeing a few things.  First, your temps are really high overall.  I peeked at last cycle's chart and they're high there, too, so this isn't a fever thing.  Is hyperthyroidism a possible issue with you?  Or do you just run hot?  Second, your temps fluctuate quite a bit making it difficult to see your pattern and causing some temps to dip below the CL.  I see you have three LO's... are you still waking and/or nursing at night frequently?  Have you considered vaginal temping to try and get more consistent temps?

Based on what is on your chart now I don't think you can call O.  While your CF and OPK's point to CD 11 or 12, your temps simply do not support it.  It's entirely possible that your illness is delaying O and you will get another patch of fertile CF and OPK+'s in a few days.  It's also possible that your illness is drying up your CF.  I would keep DTD every other day (as you're able... I'm sure it's not really what you want to be doing when sick!) so that you don't end up missing your fertile period when your temp spikes and stays there.  Good luck and I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks, Jaimee -

I do tend to have high temps for some reason.  I do have hypothyroidism and take Naturethroid.  With the high temps, my doc reduced my dosing - and I ended up with low blood thyroid levels and hypothyroid symptoms.  And my temps did not decrease.  So, I just don't know what it is.  I think that my thyroid is at the exact precise place it needs to be.

I do co-sleep with my ds3 - who is very cuddly - so maybe that makes me warm?  Also, he does wake/nurse for short times thru the night.  So, I wake somewhat frequently but go back to sleep quickly.  Maybe vaginal temping would fix all of this?

Thanks so much :)

Hmm... interesting!  Well, I think that having high temps isn't the issue, but more that it can be a sign of thyroid issues and since you already treat for that, I think it's fine.  Some women are really affected by environmental changes and changes in sleep so it is possible that co-sleeping bumps your temp up some... hard to say without experimenting.  Anyway, vaginal temping might help with the temp fluctuations that you're seeing in your charts, which are making your pattern more difficult to decipher.
