High speed internet options in the middle of no where?

So I'm starting to seriously think about an option but they only have dial up there and that doesn't work for us period from school to work to research or playtime. We NEED at least 3mbps unlimited. I'm guessing satellite? How do I get info on this or what my options are? I don't even know if my cell phone will work out there. Its seriously remote but its free and I can do the things I have been dreaming of so I'm exploring it, finally hit that point in my life where I'm ready to take all this on.

A lot of people up here in Alaska use Hughsnet as their only available option but they do have a limit.

We use HughesNet, and it's decent enough, but it is a pain that you only get a certain amount of "high speed" mb per day before you drop down to dial up speed.  It's the only option we have, though.

Our cell phones didn't work here, so we had to switch providers.  Verizon didn't work at all, but TMobile works perfectly.

Good luck!

We have wild blue- again limited.  We also did get an iPad with 3G- obviously limited- but awesome regardless.  I don't think you will find unlimited satellite- but if you do be sure to post it!

There's also wifi internet. Check if you do have cell service out there first and notice if you can see any cell towers from the property. We use atlink, but I think it's just a local company.

Cellular internet is becoming a great option in many areas now and they're working hard to expand it. They have a receiver that plugs into USB ports. We happened to get 3G coverage when we went on a lake vacation in a rural area last year and watched a few streaming movies.

I had Hughes net when we got our land last year. I hated it. Slower than anything. Just switched to Wild Blue satellite. So far it is much better as far as speed goes. Can even watch a video, which I could not do before
