Okay 21 month old DS.  We are down to nursing 3 times a day (with increased nursing frequency when he's sick, so a couple of weeks ago he was nursing more like 5 times a day).  He is night weaned and has been since 14 months (when he started STTN).

Over the past month my sleep has gotten absolutely horrific.  I am typing this after going to bed at 9pm and then tossing and turning until I gave up at 12:22am.  I have taken melatonin, sleepy time tea and finally half a prescription sleep aid...and, nothing.

Just terrible sweating and I'm hot...and jumpy.  Jumpy, partially because we've been having trouble with a neighbor playing bass late at night (as in 2:30am when he gets home from work) and waking us (so every time a car passes or a noise happens outside I'm anticipating the next bass beat) and because DS has started taking well over an hour to fall asleep, talking to himself and crying out frequently...so I end up anticipating him needing me.

So, I think my lack of sleep has a few causes...but tonight the worst of it is the sweating.

Any ideas...anything I take has to be safe for DS's 5:30am wake up nursing.  Yup, he gets up at 5:30am...sigh.  Is this horrific insomnia normal with this level of nursing?  Is it hormonal?  What the f is going on with my body!?  I just want to sleep...mostly because my sleep deprivation is making me a less than stellar mama and wife.

Help...whimper.

ETA, this all seems to have started to ramp up (the insomnia thing) around when AF resumed at 18 months PP.
