Hello all:

I am new to this forum. Do not know for sure how far I am (doc’s appointment on the 15th) but assuming it’s about 5/6 weeks. I just found a new OBGYN and am very reluctant about them. I have to take antihistamine and when called the office yesterday to find out if I can continue to take allegra I was told to call my allergist and that they will call me back in 30 min with an answer, as well.

well, no call back what so ever! The receptionist is so rude I am about to find a new obgyn. Does anyone here have any experience with Morristown obstetrics?

No knowledge of that OB.. However, if you aren't completely comfortable with your doctor and don't feel like your concerns are being addressed you need to look into finding a new doctor. Its really important to feel comfortable with the person who will be treating you during your pregnancy.

Hi there! I have no experience with Morristown Obstetrics.....but I LOVE LOVE Avalon midwives.  They have an office in Morristown and one in West Caldwell.  They are amazing group and well respected at Morristown Medical Center. Very responsive to all of a Mammas questions!!!! Go in and meet them, and see what you think.... Best of luck!

Thank you! I'm actually in WO so W. Caldwell would probably work best. I wasn't sure if I need a midwife but I guess I will give it a try, it could only help, right?

All I seem to panic about is getting to the hospital on time once my water bakre :)

Hi there! Just want to clarify... Not sure if you are from NJ, but in this state there are certified midwives, and certified nurse midwives. The certified midwives do home births and cannot be your primary medical provider in a hospital setting. The certified NURSE midwives cannot do homebirths (they will lose their lisence, go figure), and they are considered the admitting medical provider at the hospital, in this case Morristown, and are in charge of your care. They "replace" you Ob of you want to think about it that way. And it's way better because they don't just show up for the birth, they are with you through the whole process in the hospital (which OB's are not).

Avalon is affiated with 3 obgyn's for high risk patients, and/or if you need a c-section, etc. their obgyn's names are Nina Reynolds, Bob Steer, and...well I forgot the other guys name but you can check the website. I never met them, because I never had reason or desire to do so.

So, just to sum up- the nurse midwives in this group do all of your prenatal care and the delivery. As I mentioned before, they are highly respected medical professionals at Morristown Medical Center, and I worked with several doctors who used them instead obgyn's to deliver Their babies as well!

Hope this helps! :)
