I actually think it's really cool and something your kids would probably talk about when they have kids.
Maybe they will change their mind once they realize no one else is biting!

I just saw this thread and had to comment. We are on the mini-van hunt right now, trying to find something affordable that isn't used up already. We drove past a small dealership that had an old limo for sale, and I told DH we should get that instead. he reminded me that it wouldn't fit in the garage (I am really spoiled with an attached garage!).
When I was in high school and DH in college, before we were dating, his dad bought a limo. He bought it from the small town funeral home when they upgraded. I remember a bunch of us piling in and going for pizza. So fun! His dad ended up selling it for profit, but it is a good memory.

I have a tahoe with 6 kids in carseats/boosters . I wait until my husband comes home to grocery shop or go places that would require me needing lots of room in the vehicle. I wont buy another vehicle my tahoe is paid for. We also only have one vehicle and we make it work. :-) so I'd say just keep the tahoe and get creative.

How did you luck out to get a bench for the middle? I have searched and searched for a bench to put in- finally the dealership told me a suburban seat would work- so I bought one of those- and that was money wasted- cause it won't fit... Mine is 2004... I would love to not have to take the kids with me- and sometimes that works out- but our grocery store is 45 min away- so I really try to combine as many trips as humanly possible since that extra trip costs us like $25 in gas!post #25 of 272/12/12 at 12:51pmQuote:
Have you tried this company:http://www.discountvantruck.com/rvvanseating/allvanbenchseats.htm?
They can make custom benches, too.
I haven't personally used them, but we've been talking about adding custom conversions to our van in the future, so I came across their website.

Yah! We were half-way serious about going for an old limo. Just didn't find one with forward-facing benches. Our kids are 5-11 plus the newborn. Only one of the older 5 kids way leery about the limo idea and thought it would be weird and school. Everyone else was sincerely on board that it would be funny to be known as "that family with the limo and all the kids". Limos seem to me to have good prospects to pick them up cheap/old/fixable with a limited pool of interested buyers for an older car of specialty use like that. Long live creative solutions that work. :-)
