Talk to me about weaning

I think that I'm ready to start slowly and gently weaning my 26 month old DD. But I have no idea how to do it!

I work out of the house 3 days a week and she goes to daycare from 9-3 5 days a week, so we don't usually nurse then. I do pump the days I am work so that she can have some milk when she returns home from daycare (my Dh picks her up).

We also don't nurse between 11 and 5 am. But aside from that I have been nursing on demand. I'm starting to not enjoy it and wanted to gently begin the process of weaning.

Any suggestions?

I would gently direct her to something else- like snuggle time. Or a drink while you hold her or something.

I am in a similar situation with my 17 month old.  I would just like to cut down the nursings some.  I work out of the home 3 days/week for 6-7 hours at a time and he doesn't get a breastmilk or a bottle during that time.  The other 4 days/week he nurses often, maybe every 2-3 hours but sometimes even multiple times in an hour.  He will go longer if we're out and about and he's more distracted but at home he seems to think about nursing more often and asks to.  I have tried some distraction but it usually is unsuccessful. Any other helpful hints from mamas who have been there done that?
