Spotting

I'm 34 now and this is my fifth pregnancy. My first pregnancy was when I was 17 and ended in an abortion due to pressure from my mother. My second was at age 23/24, was normal, and resulted in my first son. My third was when I was 27, was normal, and resulted in my second son. Those were all with my ex-husband.

My fourth pregnancy was with my current partner just before I turned 33 at the end of 2010. It seemed normal but ended in a missed miscarriage. I went in for an ultrasound at 9 weeks, 1 day. The baby measured right about on track, but had no heartbeat. I had a D&C after a followup scan showed no change. This pregnancy is with the same guy.

With my boys, I had one microscopic speck of blood on the toilet paper around the time of my period (implantation bleeding). Literally one tiny speck. With the miscarriage, I had one day with one light pink cervical fluid around five weeks. With this pregnancy, I have had four days of spotting. The first time was a light pink streak the evening after DTD. Then a week later the same thing happened. Yesterday there was some dark almost purplish spotting for a little while when wiping. This morning I had very dark brown spotting when wiping.

I'm 5 weeks and 5 days along today. I'm driving myself nuts by reading all over the Internet about spotting during early pregnancy. I dread another miscarriage. Could this be from the D&C in 2010? Is it because I'm 34? Are my partner and I genetically incompatible? Is that possible?

My temperature is still elevated and I'm not cramping or seeing red blood. I have an ultrasound scheduled for the first Friday in March. I wanted to wait until the time I lost the last baby so if it's good news I'll feel more secure. And since I am paying cash (no insurance at the moment), I want to wait to save unnecessary expenses. In the mean time, I'm obsessively checking toilet paper.

Spotting during early pregnancy is considered "normal" as long as its light.. I spotted with all three of my successful pregnancies.

Hope this turns out to be nothing to worry about!

Had some bright red blood this evening and then nothing. Possibly going to see the midwife tomorrow to have a blood draw.

I'm spotting too. Not enough to even make it to my panties. Just some dark brown discharge on my toilet paper maybe once or twice a day. I'm trying not to freak out, but they didn't do labs at my pre-appointment on Wednesday, like I expected so I won't know anything until I go in for my first appointment on the 15th. It's driving me crazy not knowing. I know it's normal but that won't stop me from worrying until we see the midwife. :(

I had one more bit of blood yesterday on the toilet paper and then nothing again. My midwife said she could refer me for an ultrasound or blood draw, but I'm just going to wait and see. Morning sickness should start in another week.

As odd as it feels to wish morning sickness on someone, I hope you start getting some symptoms that reassure you soon!  hug.gif

The spotting seems to have stopped. I have a tiny bit of brown discharge here and there, but nothing aside from that. Now I'm just ridiculously bloated and look three months pregnant already. orngtongue.gif
