Rebozo During Birth Webinar

I posted a link to a transcript, from a midwifery confrence, about using a rebozo during pregnancy and birth on my page (http://www.midwiferytoday.com/articles/transcript.asp).

Well, a friend got me in touch with a mama who teaches a webinar on how to use them during birth! She said if I can get 10 mamas that want to take the class she would do one now (or we have to wait until March).

Here is a link to "about the class": http://progressive-parenting.com/classes/

Anyone interested?

Is this about sifting? I sifted throughout my last pregnancy and labor.... awesome experience, really helped at the end.

I'm sure she'll go over that position. She said that she goes over 10 positions that can be used with the rebozo plus lots of info!

I just did it instinctually... and then found stuff on it later. I didn't use a rebozo, I used my storch wrap.

Because of the texture and the tassels on the rebozo (a traditional garment of women in Mexico, baby carry for those who don't know) it can be used.in pregnancy for support, in birth to reposition baby/properly position baby, comfort measures, etc!

I know what a rebozo is and where it originates, lol. I don't have one and there are plenty suggestions that offer a wrap is just as effective, I've also seen wraps used as support and in labor to hold a mama up. I do not think/feel the rebozo is the ONLY cloth garment that can be helpful.

Most people don't know what a rebozo is, and they might read the thread too.

Other garments might work well also... I've seen them for $14 so they can be found for a reasonable price.

I didn't know what one was, lactomom, so thanks for the explanation!

Pretty sure that Demeter was just pointing out that a woven wrap can be used too, and that finding a rebozo might not be as easy, so a woven wrap is a good substitute.

You know all of that information is very easy to find online, at no cost. That's how I came across the information.. at least. Spinning babies has some interesting stuff on sifting and you can look up the history of the rebozo on wiki. :)

When I was reading the transcript, the midwife said the she couldn't use a sheet (or something of that texture) for some of the positions because it was to slick. So I can defiantly see another garment/wrap working for some, but not all the positions.... unless it was the same texture.

I would LOVE some links!

A rebozo is handwoven... as is most wraps.

Really it just takes some googling to find most of that information. If you have a good doula, she probably knows all of this anyway.

Those are some great links with the history, and some baby wearing techniques. I was thing you had a bunch with ways to use it during pregnancy and birth. The one link was definitely awesome in the detail of the one position.

I've been struggling to find good information and instructions for the use during pregnancy and child birth. I think I'll get what I'm wanting out of the class.

Sounds interesting...  I'm really curious about using the rebozo for support during pregnancy.  Not sure how you would wrap it to lift the weight of the baby??

Here is a link that shows an image of a mama using a rebozo to support her belly http://jenniferhendricksondoulaservices.blogspot.com/2011/07/rebozos-what-are-they-and-how-do-you.html

Aha, that makes sense.  I just couldn't picture it.  I was trying to figure out how you would wrap it below your belly and somehow over your shoulders, lol!
