DD supposed to be sleeping....reciting multiplication facts instead.

DD (6) is upstairs reciting multiplication facts as she figures them out.....

I hear whispers of   4 times 4 is 16....4+4+4+4.     50x2 is 100 since 50 + 50 is 100       5x6 is 30.   200x2 is 400

LOL. I had to go up there and tell her NO. MORE. MATH!! Go to bed.

So she starts to read by the light of a softy glowing teddy bear.... I confiscate said bear and books.

She tells me...."Mom you can take away my books so I cant read at night! But you cant take away my brain!!!" I had to leave before I started laughing.

I was hoping this crowd could relate so I thought I would share here.

I know what you mean.... DD bought some multiplication and division flash cards that she found in the dollar bins at Target, and I know she keeps them hidden under one of her pillows.

I can totally relate!  My ds1 did the exact same thing when he discovered how to add at age 4.  The first night he stayed up until 11:00 (instead of 9) doing addition and I freaked out. I couldn't get him to shut his mind off.  I thought this was going to be an every night occurrence, but thankfully, it wasn't!

Advice is always welcome!!  Can't agree to follow it-- but like I tell my kids, the more you know, the more you can make an informed opinion.

Mostly sharing--- sharing with some local moms sometimes seems like bragging and really I just think it was both funny (today) and exasperating (that night)!
