Little boy (long hair) haircuts?

It's that time.  I've been putting it off and putting it off, but DS really needs a haircut.  The thing is that he has these gorgeous curls, in the back only.  The entire top layer is completely straight.  And I can't keep it out of his eyes.  At this point it's past his chin, but he won't leave a hair clip or a rubber band in it for long, if at all (depending on his mood).

I really don't want to cut his curls, but the top layer needs cutting so he's not constantly brushing it out of his eyes.  I'm just at a loss as to how to do that without making it look like a mullet.  Anybody have any brilliant suggestions?

One of my boys was like that.  We just let it grow out, eventually it will get to the point where it is past his eyes.  I only cut my sons hair when it started getting caught in the clips of his overalls all the time.  I totally cried.smile.gif

I had this problem with my son, I was in fear of getting a 'long' hair trim, as too many times they made him look like some dutchboy/romulan/bowl cut hybrid. Yikes! Def. bring a picture! I brought him into my salon.

Layer the straight parts. My son has long straight hair, and when I layered it, it got a lovely wave. We keep it a little messy/beachy and people always seem to love it. His hair is way past his eyes, he just brushes it aside. I would say, trim the back to meet a bit, layer the top.

Sorta like this;

I know this kid is older and has a ridiculous expression!
