Nap Time - Page 2

Yep, that makes sense. So, he's been sleeping three hours, now. Despite getting an hour and a half long nap about an hour and a half after he woke up this morning. Should I go wake him up??

SO CONFUSING!! nut.gif

Almost four hours, now... if he makes it to four hours I will go wake that baby. My boob is leaking shy.gif

Can I just say - a little sleeping baby in a big bed is just about the cutest thing ever! He's so adorable! And he sleeps really well in there... I may be able to put his swing on CL here pretty soon! energy.gif

Gosh it's hard.  I agree.  I would wake him with enough time to allow a good wakeful period before another nap before bedtime, does that make sense?  You're in my time zone so I'd say you could squeeze in a short nap before bedtime still!

I never, ever wake Conner. I understand that you're worried about your supply, but if Conner ever sleeps through a feeding, I just pump.

I figure, if he's sleeping, it's because he's tired, LOL. So I don't bother him.

If he ate at noon, fell asleep at 1230, and is still sleeping at 230/3, I'll pump, then feed him whenever he wakes up. Does that make sense? I feel like I sound confusing, LOL. It also helps build up my back stock, because it is SO hard to keep up. Gosh, I wish I was one of those ladies that produced 50 EXTRA ounces a day, LOL.

I checked on him just after I posted that and he was still sounds asleep.. I just couldn't wake him! I was going to feel really bad if he was like mid-sleep cycle and I woke him! So i let him sleep. And he woke up about ten minutes later - right at the 4 hour mark! He just did a little yell like, "Hey, mom! I'm awake!" and when I went in there he smiled at me love.gif

We've been going to be around 9pm at night, but he's started to get fussy after 8 or so, so I might try moving his 'bed time' up closer to 8. He wakes up anywhere from 7am-8am.

Hopefully we'll get another little nap in - maybe at 6:30pm when he will have been awake for two hours.

Yes, I should pump. I'm going to donate my stash to a woman in my local AP group and so I'll need to build a new stash. I had intentions of pumping during long naps - but I get afraid that as soon as I get done pumping he's going to wake up and I'll be dry! I think maybe I worry too much, though....

I get that, too. And sometimes I'll only pump one side, since he only takes one side per feeding... That way, if he does wake up, I've got a nice full boob for him.

And I always wait for my kiddo to cue when he's ready for bed, but I swear he has an internal clock that SHUTS OFF at 7pm sharp. The latest he's stayed awake in the last two weeks has been 730... And then he'll sleep uninterrupted until at least 730 the next morning. I usually pump around 11 before bed then again at 5 when I wake up for work... My boobs are so used to not being used at nighttime, that's why I don't pump more at night.

Where do you live? LOL It's already 745 here and Conner's been asleep for 45 minutes. LOL

Another successful day of napping so far! He took an hour long nap in my lap this morning while I caught up on blogs and such... then at 10:30 we went into the bedroom and I nursed him to sleep. I am fighting a little cold, so I opted to take a nap too - and slept for two hours! I snuck out after that and made myself lunch and he's still snoozing. Almost three hours. Luckily we started his nap a little earlier today - yesterday he wasn't tired until almost 10pm! Usually he's ready for bed about 8:45-9pm or every earlier.

Hey friends, would love some tips.  Oren is only napping a half-hour at a time. So with his 60-90 min awake window, he takes like 5 naps a day - and right now I have to lie down with him as he falls asleep for all of them. He used to go down on his own, but not anymore. This is really affecting my older DD's behaviour - I am pretty much always either nursing the baby, changing him or putting him down for a nap. Ugh, and don't even ask me how the housework is going...

Right now I have white noise on for him the whole time, and he's in a sleep sack.  I have been nursing him to sleep side-lying in my bed. I try and nurse him back to sleep when he wakes up after 20 - 30 minutes, but he either won't have it, or DD is making too much of a fuss and wakes him up. And about twice a week, I have been able to nurse him back down, and he'll sleep for at least another hour, perhaps more. He won't nap in the Ergo, unless I am outside walking vigourously. Which is fine for one nap most days, but we're sick right now, and I don't really have the energy for vigourous walks.

He is teething (two erupted about a week ago but have since receded) and also pretty sick with a nasty cough. All of this seems to be related, so I'm hoping he'll get better at staying asleep once he is well and the teeth are through. But in the meantime - any thoughts?  Oh, and all this doesn't really seem to affect his night sleep - he's doing pretty well in that department.

Oh, and for those of you with toddlers - what in the world do you DO with your toddler if you have to actively help a baby to sleep?  DD is hell-bent on making sure this baby never sleeps.

No fantastic advice.  I seem to have the opposite baby.  Coralie will pretty much only nap in the carrier.  If I set her down during the day she'll wake up in 5-10 minutes.  She taking about 4 naps a day, all while I'm holding her.  My DD1 wouldn't nap in a carrier after about 3mo, but she HAD to be swaddled in order to sleep on her own.  As of now, if I want to set Coralie down, I will nurse her until she's asleep and then move her into her co-sleeper.  This really only works at night when she's entering her long period of sleep (around 5 hours).  I also have a 2.5yo DD and she mostly leaves the baby alone.  They often even sleep in the same room and so far it's been fine.  I guess it's a personality thing?
