Sigh. Being a nesting momma makes me a little nuts. I wake up at 3am and think, "I need to get that cubbie storage bench we saw at Home Depot today!" and then have to get up and obsessively take measurements of the room to make sure it will fit in the space. ...And then I wind up moving the crib & painting supplies across the room by myself at 4am. Is anyone else having fits like this? My hubby seems to think it's too early in the pregnancy for me to be doing this (19 weeks), but I can't help it!
Crazy nesting!

I have the urge to do it but not the motivation. I think, luckily for me, I'm too afraid of worsening my SPD by doing things I know I shouldn't... so despite that I REALLY want my couch moved... I'm resisting the urge until my husband is home and I can make him move it! LOL

Nope, hasn't kicked in at all. I have been thinking about it, but not done a thing. Partly because we have a roommate in the basement who will not be moving out until May, at that time we will be moving the office to the basement, both kids to their own separate rooms, and our room to the kids' old shared room. And hopefully paint each room. I do hope to get a lot done before May, like cleaning out the basement (non-roommate space), garage, organizing, gardening, etc, but lately all it seems my ass is glued to my bed. :(

Every time I say I have the urge not the motivation... I end up cleaning.
I have a clean and reorganized livingroom... I need to work on the kitchen... here's to hoping this works again!
We cleaned out one of our closets on Saturday. Then I wanted to go to Home Depot on Sunday... which is notable because I hate that place, so I'm sure it's some kind of nesting thing.
We have a few renovation projects we'd like to do, and I'm getting antsy because there is not that much time between now and July, and I'm sure we will have neither the time nor the money when the baby gets here.
My 6 year old decided my closet needed to be cleaned out - which it really did. It's a small walk-in and you couldn't walk in. He took out all of my shoes and spread them over the floor. He started to organize, but got distracted later on and I ended up finishing which made a huge difference and I am able to actually hang up some maternity clothes, now. We scheduled a couple of donation pick-ups, so that will encourage us to get rid of more stuff to make room for baby. I hate getting things in advance or assembling things but DS also decided to take down the parts for the changing table and that is in the middle of the hallway. Not exactly where I'd like it! It's been there a couple of months, not sure when it will move.

I'm getting DP into the nesting now, too. I was working on one of the baby quilts I'm making yesterday and got him to completely reorganize all of the stuff we had on this shelf in what will be the baby's room and move it elsewhere. It's been bugging me to get all of that stuff off the shelf and out of there so I could start putting some baskets and stuff on it for baby stuff.
I was in complete cleaning mode this weekend, too. We cleaned and cleaned and cleaned. I did so much laundry it's not even funny. DP even pitched in and scrubbed the bathroom, which was pretty awesome.
I ordered a new vacuum a couple of days ago and I can't wait for it to get here. I'm all about vacuuming the apartment all of the time now and I think having a new toy to do that with isn't going to help things! haha
I am pathetic about actually following up on my nesting instincts (we are not big DIY-ers at all), but today I did decide to wash the pillows/blanket/mattress pad, turn the mattress, and move everything in the bedroom (with DH's help, of course) so we could do a rare vacuuming and cleaning under the bed and around the baseboards. WOW was that disgusting. I'm a little frustrated because I feel that it still isn't 100% clean, and also I discovered that our window fan does not come apart for cleaning so I'll have to get a new one, but on the whole it's vastly better than it was. I'm hoping we can do one room this way each weekend until we get them all done. It really didn't take that long, and needed to be done. Very satisfying! I might actually clean out my closet and underwear drawer this afternoon too, as long as I'm at it.
Now we just need to declutter the house, hire someone to do some renovations that we have been putting off and help us fix up our yard, get the nursery ready, schedule childbirth classes/hospital tour/etc., find a doula if we decide to hire one, find a daycare... YIKES

Last weekend DH and I took the shower doors off the shower. We took all the old caulk out( it was moldy and falling apart) and re did it. Then we hung up a curved shower rob with nice new curtain.
So much nicer. So I got to check a few things off the "do before baby" list.:)
We bought a fixer upper last July and did enough to move in right away, but it's been an ongoing thing ever since. Of course now I get relegated to jobs like sanding all of the baseboards and hemming curtains for basement windows. Our before baby list is L O N G. And somewhere in there we need to get our farm up and running for the season, build 2 new beds to rearrange kids rooms, and keep on functioning. Good thing I'm a terrible sleeper!
LOL, mama
. I can relate to your middle of the night nesting binge, as I have done similar. I tend to be a night owl and historically it has not been uncommon for me to pull all nighters a couple times a week and work steadily while everyone sleeps....but not in this pregnancy! I haven't stayed up all night even once since that fateful Ovulation! lol But the difference is, it's your first baby. ;) I was reading your post and was surprised that you had your crib up already, that's when I saw it's your first. And thinking about it now, yeah, I did that too with my first!
Well, this is the best time of year for deep cleaning and decluttering and organizing, and I do it every year at this time (before the Aries New Moon). But I have been REALLY focused and HARDWORKING and way more committed this year to being sure to get every single square inch of my house totally spotless and sparkling clean, with every single cabinet and drawer and everything completely organized and simplified if possible. So I have been thinking there must be extra nesting going on with me, too.
Well, there is nothing wrong with nesting! Enjoy it and good luck!
I am totally nesting, too. We moved when I was 9 weeks, and we unpacked and semi-organized, but never really truly decorated. We have nothing hanging on the wall, no curtains, and all the pantry stuff is on the counter because we don't have a pantry. So I've been going a little crazy recently :) I'm reorganizing and simplifying the kitchen and trying to create more space in a tiny room, while at the same time plotting a color scheme for the bedroom and trying to figure out what to do with the odd wall space in the living room and dining room. Fortunately, this is helping me keep my promise that I wouldn't buy any baby things until after the baby shower in May. (Ok, I may have broken that a little already... I had to get just a few cloth diapers....)

You guys are funny. I think its awesome, nesting is a huge part of the fun of anticipation!
I am feeling the need to get stuff ready, but haven't had the opportunity (...or the stuff for that matter) to start. I did tell Mr. Dingo that in June I am going to want to set stuff up for the baby......... He's still a little freaked out and is more than happy to wait before being faced with more evidence that this is really happening - beyond this huge belly.
I love hearing ideas and looking on Pinterest for cute things that people have done.
for now I am just doing some knitting.

Spring cleaning continues (note: I don't consider this "crazy" nesting, but I tend to be on the lazier side, so I'm just happy to be getting some things done.
We attacked the laundry room this week--as I might have mentioned before, we have radiators so the dust that gets trapped in those things is insane, especially in a room where there is a fair amount of dust and lint anyway. We pulled out the dryer and cleaned under it, disconnected the duct and vacuumed/brushed it out from both ends so hopefully we have reduced the danger of a dryer fire, and generally vacuumed/wiped/washed everything else we could. The room even smells good now, which is a little alarming (how bad was it before?!)
It's nice to declutter as we go through these rooms as well; we are much more ruthless about that than we used to be, so we are really making some good progress. We also got some yard work done. I think we will continue the plan of thoroughly cleaning one room per week until the house is in pretty good shape. Next week the "room" will probably be the garage, if the weather is nice enough. It's detached with all kinds of cracks and openings to the outside, so it's really gross. Not to mention full of chemicals, sharp things, etc. that we will want to reduce down as much as possible, and organize what we can't, before we have a little kid running around. Then the downstairs guest room, which we may stay in with the baby for a while after she is born to avoid too much climbing up and down stairs. I feel like those are the two "important" rooms (well, other than our "rustic" outdoor-entrance basement... YIKES
... not sure if there are enough weekends left in my lifetime to tackle that one) and the rest should be pretty easy, so it's nice to feel like we are making some progress. I'd also like to get the windows washed and send our area rugs in for cleaning before she is born.

Oh, man. I've lived in places with radiators before and always tried hard to ignore them. They are always filthy. Good for you for cleaning them! It always feels so good to get things clean like that. I feel like the energy in the place changes somehow. A room a week is a great idea, too! Much easier to actually get things done that way, too, I'll bet. Though maybe your basement needs an entire month. haha
We're still working on organizing and purging, but I'm starting to get the urge to clean things. We replaced the nightstands in our bedroom and got a full-length mirror so I went to town cleaning all of the furniture in there. One of these weekends I'm going to just stick a bucket of soapy water in DP's hands and tell him to start cleaning one thing while I do another. I have a mental list of everything that needs cleaning. You know, all those things you ignore for ages. This is our first time in a while not having a self-cleaning oven and I need to clean my oven something fierce. I meant to do it this weekend, but never got around to it. Hopefully next weekend.
I am crazy nesting! I cut my hours at work and now I spend long days at home just cleaning and getting the nursery ready and gardening I'm having so much fun!
