I have 3 girls and we are currently ttc. My first was vaginal, 2nd was a c-section due to FTP and my third  was a planned VBAC turned repeat c-section at 39 week induction due to FTP again. I would like to have a homebirth this time around and wonder if a midwife would even touch me? I cant find anything anywhere saying one would or wouldn't. We are considering a UC if we can't get a midwife to deliver for us. Any information or advise would be great. I'm only 45 minutes from Ontario Oregon, so I would even be willing to go there to deliver if I didn't have to repeat a c-section again (unless its medically necessary). Thank you!!

Questions about a HBA2C in the Boise area.
My understanding is that CPMs and LMs in Idaho aren't allowed to attend HBA2C, even with a prior vaginal birth. The ONLY two CNMs who attend homebirths in the whole state both work for Treasure Valley midwives and I know they don't take VBA2C as a general rule (since they also employ Licensed midwives they tend to follow the regulations for that) but that they were open to discussing VBA2C on a case by case basis. http://www.treasurevalleymidwives.com/
I would be remiss if I didn't mention that I know of 2 newborn deaths at Baby Place in the last year. I can't say for sure but my understanding is that there was some delay in transfer to the hospital and now police investigators are required to go out everytime 911 is called there. I also know of some who have had an excellent experience with them but I feel the need to mention that one should fact check anyone they choose very carefully (Oregon has had many issues with unsafe midwifery practice as well). Good luck!
I have a similar understanding, JourneytoPeace. During the legislative hearings to license midwives, the Idaho Medical Association lobbied tenaciously (and successfully
) to take that choice (HBA1+C) away from women. The result will be that more people like the OP will likely go unassisted, but time will tell. I also agree with you about The Baby Place. I'm very supportive of giving women the choice of out-of-hospital birth, but there's no way that I'd trust them with my own birth.Â

As I see it, Heidi Freitas, you have a couple of choices, other than UC. First, there really ARE VBAC-friendly physicians in the Treasure Valley. Unless a hospital birth is 100% out of the question for you, you might call Treasure Valley Midwives and just ask for a recommendation. Dr. Bryan Hodges is supposedly a good one to work with, but they are really well connected at TVM and might have other names.
Â
The other choice is to network around for an unlicensed midwife. The new law has a loophole that "grandmothers" in those "traditional" midwives who've had no intention of getting licensed. I don't know of any, personally, but you might ask around.
Â
Good luck with your decision!Â
