I have a few questions about the Florence, SC area. Can anyone help?

My husband's company is putting a facility in Florence, SC and they are trying to get him to transfer.  I am looking for a small town near there that is crunchy if possible and very accepting and non judgemental because our 6 yr. old is AA and we are caucasian.  We are coming from a town of 1200 people here in CT now so this move would most likely be a shock as it is.

We live in Columbia, so I don't know too much about the small towns. I just wanted to say welcome to SC! If plans change and you come closer to Columbia, lemme know. Good luck!
