Anyone have their babes (or babes') name(s) picked out this far in advance?

I think we have settled on a boy & a girl, but when I told my mom, she said, "Oh we will see, you will change it" Huh???

We have a short list. I think it's silly to be told you'll just change it! I know that some people like to wait to see the baby's face, and others (like me) like having a name to put to the baby inside them to bond more. Once we learn the gender in a month or so we'll buckle down and settle on a name!

I didn't find out the gender with my son and had numerous girl and boy names picked out. None of them fit. He seriously wasn't any of the names I "loved." So, yes, it happens all the time.

I'm definitely the kind of person who needs to see the baby before deciding.  Dumb as it sounds, I used to collect a line of Japanese dolls and every one of them came to me without names until I could see them in person and get a feel for their "personalities."  So I guess that's just how I roll. 

 

My sister named her daughter right as soon as she found out the sex.  In her mind the baby "became" the name.  So it works both ways.  Everyone is different.

 

With my first I went to the hospital with a whole list of names for each sex and in the end she wasn't any of them!  I'm still doing my list but being open.

We're not finding out the sex, so we have a short list of boys and girls names.  We've actually narrowed it to one girl name and two boy names.  We'll just roll with it when the baby is born, I guess.  I've already learned not to discuss our name choices with family and friends because the comments/reactions are usually completely unhelpful.  I did run them by my very practical (and awesome) sister for an outside opinion.  She loved them both.

Oh, I'm sure it happens, but just to be told that you'll definitely change it as a blanket statement really rubs me the wrong way! It's just not always true!

As soon as we find out the gender, we'll be referring to Thing #2 as his/her name. Yes i'm finding out because I"m a dork and HAVE TO KNOW. I hate surprises. In fact, i told my husband if he EVER hosts or plots a surprise party in my "honor" to expect to be served divorce papers the following day. 

 

What are you thing #2? Zeisel or Levi? HMMMM????  We're still deciding on middle names. It will help me bond w/ the kid, it helped with my first kid.

DH and I thought we had a boy's name picked even before I was pregnant, but now with the Twilight craze we're less sure about it.  It's the name of one of the vampires and DH really really hates twilight.  At least we know we'd like to use DH's grandfather's name as a middle name.

 

If it's a girl, we're gonna have issues.  It took us forever to agree on DD's name and I seriously have no idea how we'd find another girl's name we agree on.

Ziesel or Levi are both gorgeous names!!!

 

I will share mine too : Emily or Jack. Very overused, but we love them both.

 

What Twilight character?? Edward, Emmett, Jasper??? Because all 3 of those are awesome names!!!

I wish we had both settled on a short list or even more exciting "the one" but we are far from it.  This is tough stuff for us apparently but it is all fun.

We picked names right after we got married, though we're only still in love with our top one or two for each gender. But I won't consider the name final until the baby comes, because I'm also one of those need-to-meet-them-first people. smile.gif That is one of many reasons that only dh and I will know the names.

Is Ziesel pronounced Zee-sel or Zii-sel (with a long I)?  I like it either way.
 

The name we thought we were settled on was Jasper Howard.  I really love the name Jasper and I'm hoping we'll come back to it if we're having a boy.  Other boy's name's I'm loving are William, Harper (my paternal grandma's maiden name) Robert and Jesse.

Zeeeee-sill its like Cecil but with a Z. Its the Yiddish translation of "Cecila" which I LOVE but I wanted something REALLY unusual because I'm an epic dork. 

 

I love Jasper! And William has ALWAYS been one of my favorites.
