Cashews

I have seen several recipes that require cashews.  All I see at the store are salted cashews in a tub.  Is this what the recipes want?  One of the recipes has stated raw cashews.  I assume that those wouldn't be salted.  Where would I find raw cashews?

I get them at Trader Joe's. $6.99 a pound. Sunflower and Whole Foods have them. I'm sure Sprouts does as well. If you don't have any of those stores around, can you call some health food stores or a food co-op?

You can also buy them from amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=sr_nr_n_1?rh=k%3Araw+cashews%2Cn%3A16322901&keywords=raw+cashews&ie=UTF8&qid=1329365931&rnid=2941120011

Thanks.  We JUST got a Trader Joe's near here.  Now I have a "real" reason to go.

I used to do 95% of my shopping at TJ. Then my daughter needed us to go gluten, dairy, cane sugar, and tomato free. Now I only do 50% of my shopping there. Some of their stuff is SOOO cheap. A lot of their processed stuff contains cane sugar. So things I buy there are raisins, nuts, dried/freeze dried fruit, rice cakes, coffee, toilet paper/paper towels, toothpaste, lotion, some vitamins, cheese (for my husband,) spices in jars, cocoa, fruit sweetened jellies, honey for baking (I get local raw for non-baking use elsewhere,) earth balance, olive and sesame oils, brown rice, corn pasta (their brown rice pasta is GROSS,) some produce (you have to watch the packaged stuff,) frozen fruits and veggies, etc. Basically ingredients. Their prepared foods are good, we just can't keep them in the house.

Trader Joe's is wonderful! Though you may be able to find raw cashews in the natural bulk section of a mainstream grocery, I'm sure TJ's will have a better price. I do all of my food shopping there. I live 1 block away from our local store. ROTFLMAO.gif Last summer, I would put my LO in the Jeep stroller and walk there. They have great prices. When I was living in Vermont and didn't have access to Trader Joe's, I shopped at the regular grocery store and my bill was significantly higher. I may be returning to the north east soon, and will miss Joe, for sure.
