How do I get rid of gussets on a pattern?

I have the New Conceptions cover pattern and I really hate the gussetts. How would I adjust the pattern to make it just have elastic around the legs like a fitted diaper? I dont have any scrap fabric right now (goodwill didnt have anything good last night) so I cant test around with it. Thanks!

I would try adding the approximate width of the gusset piece to the sides of the diaper. If the gusset is 1 inch after seam allowances are taken out, add 1 inch to the side of the diaper. Taper it to where the gusset is supposed to begin and end.

Thanks! I will give that a try. Sounds like it should work with a bit of tweaking.

You might actually try sewing one up first without any tweaking, just add elastic at the legs. See if you like the fit and then you can tell how much more room you'll want in the crotch.
