Sitting

So Charlie can sit forever. He doesn't fall over and he can totally hold - and sit back up - from a tip back where his head and feet are in the air and he's on his but. Like he's doing the pilates "100."

So then that's just how he plays most of the time. He sometimes lays down and he can roll around a bit.. But he mostly does. He can bend completely in half (which seems uncomfortable in a diaper) and can get most things he wants that way. Or he'll tip over to get them.

But he doesn't roll from belly to back yet, just from back to belly. And he isn't scooting. Which is totally fine, I'm not REALLY worried about him, I'm just wondering if I should maybe having him laying more. He just gets fussy about it and starts trying to sit up (more sit ups!) and then will cry.

I figure he'll work it out. He about got to his belly by leaning forward and twisting one leg back.

I just need you to pat me on the head and say it's okay. ><

If it's any consolation, Finn is doing pretty much the same thing.  He can reach in all directions from sitting, fold flat in half to reach.  He rarely falls over unless he's super tired.  He's rolled from back to belly twice and from belly to back once.  I think he did both just that one time just to appease me, and then he moved on.

I'm not the least bit worried.  I like babies that stay put!

Yes :)

I love it that our babies are so similar! Very helpful to me :D Thank you.

lol, I was having similar feelings because DD doesn't sit unsupported yet but can roll over both ways. i'm not worried here either though. they're growing at their own perfect pace. i'm also somewhat terrified of her becoming mobile (though also excited.)

Yes! I'm not quite ready for that!! Rolling can take them far, though!

Sitting is still hit & miss here, but he has had only brief opportunities thanks to an older brother that is always trying to poke his eye or pick his nose. When he does get floor time he can wriggle across the floor and roll from back to belly, but not belly to back. He does do really well sitting on my lap which is handy at the beginning and end of nursing him. He is trying to sit up from lying down but not quite there yet.

I remember DS1 was slower to hit some of these mobility milestones, but he did get to them in his own time so I'm not so concerned with DS2. I know it won't be long until he is following along behind DS1 and getting into things, so I'm enjoying this "stay put" stage while it lasts.

That seems fine to me, they are just all SO different and do everything differently.  I'm sorta having the opposite problem.  Ada is ALL over the place and starting crawling and pulling  herself up into a standing position, all in one night!  Now I'm like, DAMN we have to start baby proofing asap!!  I could have lived without all of this action for a few more weeks or so.

Charlie can get down easily from chairs (well, laps) now. Slides to standing, grins a lot and then sits. So I guess pulling up might be soonish. Maybe. Ugh. I'm sorry you hit that one already :)

Right?  Isn't that what everything is like?  "I think this is normal...or maybe it's not....it might be too soon for this...but maybe not".  Who knows!

We are mobile here too.  At first, he would just roll and roll to get where he wanted and now he has progressed to "inch worming" his way around.  He started commando crawling too so between the two, he gets where he wants to be.  He can sit unsupported but will still sometimes throw himself backwards.  He's standing pretty well but not pulling up on anything yet.  He was hard enough to keep track of stationary.  I'm really going to have to up my game now.
