health insurance question

I'm planning on quitting my job so I can attend classes full-time (switching careers).  My biggest concern at this point is that all of our health insurance (for me, DH, and DD) comes through my employer.  I know that we can always switch to insurance through DH's employer in November, when open enrollment starts.  I'm wondering, does me quitting count as a qualifying life event to enroll in his job's insurance program before open enrollment season?

Yes, it's qualifies as loss of other coverage. At least it has when I've been in similar situations. I believe you have 31 days after a qualifying life change to start up insurance with DH's company. I'd have DH verify with HR just to be safe, but it shouldn't be a problem.
