American Idol -- And Then There Were Eight... - Page 6

I can't ever get through on those stupid lines, even when I'm feeling particularly moved by a performance. I'm tired of this show and mad at them..... what is happening to our voting systems??????

Yes, I always vote for Jennifer. I couldn't get through very often this last time.

High speed dialers. Humph.

I vote, but now that I read the post about people voting thousands of times, I think I'm just wasting my time. It seems like there should be a way to only allow each phone number a limited number of votes.

This article from CNN discusses the controversy over Jennifer Hudson being cut from American Idol...

http://www.cnn.com/2004/SHOWBIZ/TV/0....ap/index.html

It *does* make sense that votes are being split among the divas from the demographic group who make up their fans (i.e., all the people who like the diva-type singer have to choose among Jennifer/Latoya/Fantasia), so *individually* they aren't getting enough votes and, consequentially, end up in the bottom 3. Whereas the viewers who like red-haired 16-year-old boys who can't sing have only 1 person for ALL their votes! Eek!!!!

rainsmom thanks for the recap I am going to try and watch it next week for the person who gets the boot.

Simons fiancee is also a correspondent for Extra, her name is Teri Seymour. I agree it's just weird that Paula and Simon are holding hands and all manner of other things. I think it is to help ratings:LOL

I too was surprised and disappointed by the results of last week's shows, but I was even more surprised by Ryan and the judges reactions. Ryan said, "Remember America, it is not a popularity contest..." Yes it is! Although I don't think Jasmine, John, or Diana are any where near as good as the others, I'm not going to buy their music, whomever they are. Those teeny boppers voting for hours after the show are the ones who will run out and buy the CD the day it is released. So, the question is, where do the big dollars come from: commercials during the show, or sales of the winner's CDs?

Jennifer I never thought of that, your right to a certain extent. I got Clay's CD as a gift but I probably would never have bought it. I guess if the kids like them and they vote for them then that is as it should be. I guess it is just hard to sit and watch ppl that really don't have a great talent win the sort of deal they are going to get, kwim?
