Weekly Chat Thread, 2/20 - Page 3

http://www.mothering.com/community/t/1343435/depression

This was one I started.  It has some good commentary from other women, but the new thread might be more to the point and include an anxiety discussion.

Also, I'm really P.O.ed that when I opened a few of these threads, those annoying video ads popped up and started chattering at me.  I couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from since I've never had this problem on Mothering before.  I hate those video ads and it really disappoints me that mothering.com has sunk to that level.  Sorry everyone...  /rant off

Thanks for the probiotic advice. I'm taking it in the middle of the day with lunch since my antibiotics are twice a day. Hopefully I don't have too much damage to my gut! The antibiotics are bringing back my nausea, though! :-(

Sorry to all the ladies that are/have suffered from depression.

I blame my exhaustion (I feel for all the ladies still struggling with this), exacerbated by my long hours for me not keeping up with the forum as much as I'd like to.  I've been reading along, but that is about all I have energy for.  I always make notes in my head in order to reply to everyone, and then when I start typing I forget everything.  Does preggo brain last the whole pregnancy?

DP talked to his parents, and that is who I was really worried about telling.  They have actually been the most excited out of just about anyone we've told (perhaps excluding my twin.)  They are so excited to become grandparents, and while my parents are happy about it, I guess there are hugely different excitement levels between having your first grandchild as DP's parents are, and having your 10th grandchild, which is where my parents are.  DP's dad has cancer which recently went into remission, but he has had to continue taking the medication which makes him very tired and listless.  He sent us an email this morning saying that he woke up this morning feeling better than he has in ages, and that he and MIL are so excited about the baby.  Then his aunts and cousins started texting saying how excited they are as well.  All in all, it went over better than expected.

For me it's never gone away, from the beginning of my first pregnancy! Sorry!

Since we're getting closer to THE BIG SCAN for those of us who do a 20 week anatomy scan (or 18 week or whatever orngtongue.gif), I'm thinking that next week's chat thread should include upcoming appointments...whatcha all think? I know I love hearing how everyone's go!!

Sounds fun to me.  I've got my next OB appointment on Saturday, although I'm not expecting it to be much more than a quick check-in.

Great news, Veritas! It is especially great to hear what a positive effect the news had on your partner's dad! I was stressed about telling people at work, but so far everyone has been extremely positive. I still need to tell the administrative assts, but I just haven't found the moment.

That's a good idea, Cecilia'smom! We're doing ours at 19w. I am so psyched after my scan yesterday (we didn't do the NT but ended up going to the perinatal specialists yesterday and they did an u/s and measurements). I can't wait to see how things change 4 weeks from now. It was totally different to see the little one with the serious u/s machine vs my ob's mini u/s sonogram machine at week 8 and a wold of changes had happened to the babe! I can't believe how much the movement made me feel as though he's got an identity and personality. It really made us connect to him on a deeper level. I am so in love!

Awesome. I have my fetal scan at 18 weeks on March 7th.

Okay, if y'all start putting the dates of your scans in here, I'll add them to the OP and then they can carry over to upcoming threads. That way if I'm not the one to start next week's thread, it'll be all ready to be copy/pasted.

Ughh!!!  My 18 wk scan (for next week) was cancelled on me today (their u/s dept just closed indefinitely)!!  We were already driving 3hrs to North Dakota for this appointment - it was our backup plan since we couldn't get anything sooner/better here in Winnipeg.  We can't take their alternate appts (at the end of next month) since we're both away traveling separately (plans that were carefully made around this original appt!)  Obviously you all know how important this appointment is (and thus how much I was looking forward to it), and now I might not get one at all?  This was the last straw which finally brought me to tears today as piecing together our prenatal care (around the country!) has been a constant battle since December - just one thing after another - we still do not have a caregiver nor a plan of where and how we're going to have this baby!!  ..... *deep breaths* ......

I have a scan + bloodwork on Feb 29th (week 18).  I'm struggling ... was in the ER last night with my rib/chest pain.  Of course, no one knows how to diagnose a person without CAT scans and xrays these days, so there was nothing much they could do except check my blood.  They prescribed percocet!?  The pain in nearly unbearable on my left side when I cough or move or worst of all: sneeze.  Still, I'm not comfortable with percocet at this point, you know.  If I lay on the bad side and sleep I'm OK.  Not the active, smooth pregnancy I hoped for.  Ugh.

Oh no, NewMumJoy! I am sorry for all the craziness! greensad.gif

weird - i'm totally confused why you can't get an ultrasound in Winnipeg. In most places, it's not even your family doc who does it, it is the doctor in the dept. What is the reason they are giving you? Also, at your age (I, too, am an "older" mom), you should be able to get an ultrasound early. If I were you, I would just go to a walk-in clinic and have the attending doc book your ultrasound. It really shouldn't be so complicated, that's crazy.

I just had my NT (Nuchal transparency) scan yesterday. I didn't particularly want it, but in NS if you are over 35 you have to get it. It was actually really exciting to see the little guy (gal?) kicking away and rolling over and scratching his/her head. Mostly, they check for the nasal bone and measure the nuchal sack, both to determine indicators for Down's. We passed okay on both. big sigh of relief.

Cecilia's mama, I forgot to write 18 weeks in my last post if that matters. Good idea about making a post.

Sorry to hear that Ainh, I have been wondering about you a lot lately and wondering how it was going, sounds painful.  It has not been an easy one for you.  Sending you good thoughts.

Newmumjoy, that is crazy you are having to organize your prenatal care like that all over.  Sorry to hear your ultrasound people are closing.

MsZelda, fun you got to see baby being so active and all was OK on the NT scan.

Veritas, so glad it went well! Just love how you and your sister are both so excited too.

No worries for me. If I add anyone to the OP though who ISN'T getting an anatomy scan, just let me know so I can correct it! smile.gif

Ainh, I hope you feel better.

NewMumJoy, that stinks about all the uncertainty.  Hope you get everything figured out.

My 18 week scan is 3/22, Aimee

I just realized that not only are our scans all coming up soon, but soon after that my daughter turns two! Agh! I really ought to consider party planning sometime soon...
