Transitioning from bottles to sippy cups

Hi everyone,

DS has just turned one and still doesn't show much interest in drinking by himself from either a bottle or sippy cup. Does anyone have any suggestions? I've heard that by age 1, it's good to transition away from bottles.

I thought the same thing until I realized it was a push to wean off bottles -- as in wean -- at age 1.  I say go slow and introduce different kinds of cups.  We had luck with the straw ones, but DD didn't give up the bottle until maybe a year and a half.  I just decided to give her a sippy with milk instead of a bottle.  The first few times she cried and didn't take it.  Then she begrudgingly did.  It was a process but nowhere near as hard as it could have been if I tried when she wasn't ready.  She continued to nurse until a little past 2.
