Dreaming about the baby

I was curious about whether any other mamas-to-be had this experience. The night before the new little one was conceived, I had a vivid dream about him. I say him because the dream was so incredibly real I am pretty much convinced that the baby is a boy and is the same little boy I dreamed of. In the dream I was holding a tiny baby boy that was only a day or two old but I really KNEW him. I knew that he was a mellow easy baby and the total opposite of or DD who was very high needs from day 1. I was so full of love and felt complete.

DH and I were not actively TTC, we were just letting nature take its course and if it was time, we had faith it would happen when we were ready. Well, when I woke up, I told DH that if we DTD, I was fairly certain that we would make a baby. We did and we did! I told DH all about the dream later and I think of it often.

I am not a particularly spiritual or religious person, but I really believe my child's spirit came to me and told me he was ready to join us. It sounds kind of kooky, but I really feel like I already know this baby.

1sttimemama, I had a similar experience to what you described above but it wasn't even in a dream state.  I'd like to start off by saying I too am not a person who is religious but I am always open to an experience of the spiritual nature which from time to time has come to me in all sorts of ways.  My son is now 11 but on the night I conceived him we SPOKE, and I too knew he was a boy.  It is of course extremely hard to explain such an experience but basically after his father and I made love (we were not trying to conceive) I was laying there awake and this voice, although not audible even to my ears, began communicating with me.  We communicated for a long time about very in depth things but by the end of it the only message of his I was able to take away with me was "No matter what, Mom, know that I will always be ok."  Then a cold wave of air touched the right side of my body and began penetrating the rest of me.  It settled into my abdomen area and the left over energy continued on through to my left side and exited.   Of course, I knew instantly I was pregnant and weeks later it was confirmed.   I'd like to share that my son is the most empathetic person I have yet to meet.  He also demonstrated early in life the abiltiy to "create".  Once when my husband and him were on a road trip together, my son who was 4 at the time "wished" to see several out of the ordinary things and they all appeared and all this took place within a 30 minute period.  The first was they stopped to get out and pee along side a wooded, forest road.  My son said, "Dad, I really wish I could see wolf."  So trying to be funny my husband began to howl.  When he stopped they heard a reply howl, looked out into the field across from them and there stood a wolf.  They got back in the car and my son said, "Dad it would be really cool to see a rainbow."  And wouldn't you know it the storm that they had been driving through had stopped minutes before and now there in the sky ahead of them was a rainbow a minute after he said it.  My husband by this time was in shock and disbelief when my son says, "My favorite bird is a Bald Eagle."  My husband explained that eagles are rare to see these days when suddenly one flew over them and landed in a tree beside the road so they could stop and observe it for a moment.  What I'm coming to is I think you have an incredible child within you with an amazing connection to you and the universe.  I've always felt extremely blessed to have this boy in my life.  Don't feel "kooky".  Just enjoy.  It is not your job to convince others of your experience.

Very cool dreams.  How sweet!  My mind is playing tricks on me with dreaming lately.  At first the baby would be born and people would ask me if baby is a boy or girl and I would never know and could not find out.  Previous to becoming pregnant (like years before) I would have a random dream about a son here and there, I want to also say a girl but I am just not sure, for sure a son.  During the pregnancy after the dreams where I could not find out the sex I would have a dream about a son, but the son had an older sister.  Then the dreams after that were that the baby was a girl.  Twin girls.  My dreams just aren't cooperating to let me know what I want to know.

I had my first dream about baby a couple of weeks ago. It was a boy in my dreams :)

Even though he was only a couple of weeks old, he was lying on my tummy with his head up and speaking to me! I should have written down what he was saying right when I woke up, but I didn't and now it has faded. I don't think it was anything particularly profound - I think we were just chatting and joking around the way I do with husband and the rest of my family. Baby fit right in!
